摘要: A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a liquid crystal display device, a surface light source to irradiate illumination light toward the display device, and an optical member to reflect linearly polarized light having a light-vibration plane parallel to its reflection axis and to transmit linearly polarized light having a light-vibration plane parallel to its transmission axis. The display device includes a pair of substrates facing each other through a gap, a liquid crystal layer sealed into the gap between the substrates, and a pair of polarizing plates sandwiching the substrates therebetween. The substrates include electrodes formed on one of their facing surfaces. The optical member is arranged between the display device and the light source so that the reflection axis faces a direction crossing an absorption axis of the polarizing plate arranged between the display device and the light source at an angle falling within the 15° to 90° range.

The electron-collector/dye layer provided on the first electrode includes an electron collector and dye. The electron collector includes first electron collector grains and second electron collector grains. The first electron collector grains have a diameter or diameters within a first diameter range and the second electron collector grains have a diameter or diameters within a second diameter range. A minimum value of the second diameter range is greater than a maximum value of the first diameter range. The electron donor is provided between the electron-collector/dye layer and the second electrode.

摘要: A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a liquid crystal display device, a surface light source to irradiate light toward the device, an optical film disposed between the device and source, and a diffusion member disposed between the film and device. The device includes a pair of substrates facing to each other through a space with electrodes formed on at least one of opposite surfaces, a liquid crystal layer sealed into the space between the substrates, and a pair of polarizing plates arranged sandwiching the substrates therebetween. The film is made of a transparent film-like member and has two mutually faced film surfaces, one of the surfaces is formed into a planar shape, the other surface is formed into a convexo-concave structure with elongate microprisms in parallel to each other, and the film is disposed between the device and source with the one surface directed toward the device.

摘要: A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a liquid crystal layer sealed between a first substrate and a second substrate opposed to each other. Inner surfaces of the first and second substrates have been subjected to aligning treatment to splay-align liquid crystal molecules. The liquid crystal display further includes electrodes formed on the inner surfaces of the first and second substrates to generate an alignment transition electric field to cause the liquid crystal molecules to transit from splay alignment to bend alignment. The alignment transition electric field includes a vertical electric field in the thickness direction of the liquid crystal layer, and a horizontal electric field in a direction parallel to the inner surfaces of the first and second substrates to twist the liquid crystal molecules between the substrates.
