The array substrate includes a base substrate, a polarizer, a plurality of active elements, a first organic protective layer and a first inorganic protective layer. The polarizer is located on a first side of the base substrate; the plurality of active elements are arranged in an array form and provided on a second side of the base substrate opposite to the first side; the first organic protective layer is located on a side of the polarizer facing away from the base substrate and covers the polarizer; and the first inorganic protective layer is located on a side of the first organic protective layer facing away from the polarizer and covers the first organic protective layer.

摘要: Mirrors including reflective backlit displays are described. In particular, mirrors including backlit displays with a backlight, a liquid crystal cell including a liquid crystal layer disposed between two opposing transparent substrate layers, a first reflective polarizer, and a second reflective polarizer are described. The first and second reflective polarizers are each directly laminated to one of the opposing transparent substrate layers. Mirrors described herein may be configured as vehicle rear-view mirrors.

摘要: A display system comprising a backlight device having a light emitting array, a liquid crystal panel, and a color filter having one or more absorbing dyes and, optionally, one or more dye enhancement compounds, wherein the one or more absorbing dyes and the one or more dye enhancement compounds are located in at least one color set of subpixels in the color filter. The one or more absorbing dyes may be a soluble, blue light, green light, or red light absorbing dye included in blue, green, or red subpixels of the color filter. A blue light absorbing dye may reduce transmission in a wavelength range of 410-430 nm, a green light absorbing dye may reduce transmission in a wavelength range of 490-570 nm, and a red light absorbing dye may reduce transmission of wavelengths less than 620 nm.

摘要: An optical system, including a reflective polarizer, and a display and a mirror disposed on a same side of, and generally facing, the reflective polarizer. The reflective polarizer may transmit at least 80% of incident light having a first polarization state and may reflect at least 80% of incident light having a second polarization state, and the mirror may reflect at least 80% of the incident light for each of the first and second polarization states. The central locations of the display, reflective polarizer, and mirror may define a midplane which includes first, second, and third regions, such that the first region includes portions of the image rays that pass at least once across the region, the second region includes portions of the image rays that pass at least twice across the region, and the third region includes portions of the image rays that pass three times across the region. The first, second, and third regions may have respective areas A1, A2, and A3, such that A3/A2 is greater than or equal to about 0.20, or 0.22, or 0.24, or 0.26, or 0.28, or 0.30.

摘要: An improved device switchable between reflective and display states comprising an optical element and a display element. The optical element comprising a liquid crystal medium disposed between first and second substrates. The optical element may further comprise a first electrode, a second electrode, an absorptive polarizer, and a reflective polarizer. The first electrode and the absorptive polarizer may be disposed in a first direction relative the liquid crystal medium. Similarly, the second electrode and the reflective polarizer may be disposed in a second direction relative the liquid crystal medium. The second direction is opposite the first direction. In some embodiments, one or more of the absorptive and reflective polarizers may be further disposed between the first and second substrates. The display may be disposed in the first direction relative the optical element. Additionally, the device may further comprise a housing. In some embodiments, the housing may not have a bezel.

摘要: A backlight includes an extended light source adapted to emit light. A reflective polarizer is disposed on the extended light source, such that for substantially normally incident light and for at least a first wavelength in a range from about 420 nanometer (nm) to about 650 nm, the reflective polarizer reflects at least 60% of the incident light having a first polarization state and transmits at least 60% of the incident light having an orthogonal second polarization state. A first prismatic film is disposed between the extended light source and the reflective polarizer. A retarder layer is disposed between the reflective polarizer and the first prismatic film, such that for substantially normally incident light at a wavelength of about 550 nm, the retarder layer has a retardance nW, where n is an integer ≥1 and W is a wavelength between about 160 nm and about 300 nm.
