    Abstract: Various examples and schemes pertaining to NB-IoT physical random access channel (PRACH) resource partitioning and multiple grants in random access response (RAR) for early data transmission (EDT are described. A network node schedules multiple grants for EDT during a random access (RA) procedure with a user equipment (UE). The network node transmits to the UE a message indicating the multiple grants mapped to a maximum broadcast transport block size (TBS) configured for each of one or more preamble resource of a plurality of preamble resources. The UE calculates a TBS that fits an uplink (UL) data packet of the UE. The UE selects one or more PRACH resources for EDT for the TBS based on a wireless communication coverage of the UE by the network node. The UE transmits to the network node in the RA procedure a first message (Msg1) indicating the selected one or more PRACH resources.

    Abstract: Various examples and schemes pertaining to simple Ethernet header compression are described. A first network node transmits a first packet with a full header to a second network node. The first network node determines whether a header compression context for the full header has been established by the second network node. In response to determining that the header compression context for the full header has been established by the second network node, the first network node transmits a second packet with a compressed header to the second network node. In response to determining that the header compression context for the full header has not been established by the second network node, the first network node transmits the second packet or a third packet with the full header to the second network node.

    Abstract: An enhanced paging mechanism is provided for UEs waking up from a very long paging cycle to improve paging robustness and flexibility. Enhanced paging includes absolute time paging (ATP) and paging with extended wakeup time. For absolute time paging, a UE receives ATP configuration and uses the actual wall time to calculate paging occasion if a condition is satisfied. In one embodiment, the wall time is acquired from at least one of an internal UE clock, a GPS time, information broadcasted from the network, or information from a higher layer signaling. For paging with extended wakeup time, a UE applies a long paging cycle followed by multiple normal paging cycles after waking up from the long paging cycle. In one embodiment, the long paging cycle is infinite and the UE enters normal paging cycle only upon TAU-triggered paging or uplink traffic.

The control information is received along with the data from the first entity. The control information includes an indication as to what type of response is required.     Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for on-demand system information (SI) delivery. In one novel aspect, an indicator in the minimum system information (MSI) indicates whether an SI or an SI group is delivered with broadcast or unicast. In one embodiment, the UE receives a MSI, obtains from the MSI the other SI (OSI) delivery mode indicator, and sends an on-demand SI request if the OSI delivery mode indicates the unicast delivery mode, otherwise acquires OSI information in a predefined or scheduled period if the OSI delivery mode indicates the broadcast delivery mode. In one embodiment, the delivery mode is unicast and the SI request is sent at a timing or resource explicitly configured in a SI change notification message. In another embodiment, the delivery mode is broadcast and updated SI is obtained based on the scheduling information included in the SI change notification message.

    Abstract: In order to establish a RRC connection and perform data transmission over an established DRB, a UE is required to complete a network entry procedure. For control plane latency (CPL), besides a random-access procedure, UE triggers two 3-way handshakes with eNB for RRC setup procedure and with MME for NAS setup procedure, which comprises a sequential execution of a list of individual signaling and processing. In one novel aspect, for latency reduction, the sequential execution is broken as to allow overlapping of the two procedures, e.g. lump RRC and NAS request under a new flexible RAN architecture, i.e. eNB/MME of the new RAT can be collocated. Lump request also requires certain SNR, so a big enough uplink grant can be scheduled. For the responses, out-of-sequence delivery is also possible as long as the execution dependency is clearly specified.
