    摘要: An electromagnetic shield comprising an electrically conductive frame for establishing electrical contact between a chassis wall and an expansion card mounting bracket. The frame has a plurality of spring fingers interconnected about a perimeter of a central opening in the frame, wherein each spring finger defines a central axis that extends outwardly away from the central opening. The frame may include a substantially planar portion adjacent the central opening in the frame, wherein the plurality of spring fingers incline along the central axis to extend out of the plane defined by the substantially planar portion. The incline of the spring fingers allows a mounting bracket to slide laterally without jamming against the side of a spring finger during installation, removal or side-to-side shifting of the mounting plate.

    摘要: A system for receiving and supporting a plurality of devices connected to a network. The system comprises a rack having a front side providing access to a plurality of chassis bays for receiving a chassis and aligning a back end of the chassis for blind docking with an electrical power source. The chassis includes a power supply, a fan, and a front side providing access to a plurality of module bays for receiving a module and aligning a back end of the module for blind docking with the power supply. A compute module is received in a module bay and directly blind docked to the power supply. The system further includes at least one other module received in a module bay within the same chassis as the compute module and directly blind docked with the same power supply along with the compute module. The at least one other module is interchangeably selected from the group consisting of a second compute module and an expansion module, wherein the one or more components of the expansion module are controlled by the motherboard of the compute module within the same chassis.

    摘要: A chip sandwich includes a heat sink, a retention module, a computer chip mounted in a socket on a mother board, a wave washer spring and a mounting plate. The heat sink is mounted on the retention module using cams, hooks and heat sink tabs to provide an initial orientation of the heat sink over the computer chip. To provide final contact pressure between the heat sink and the computer chip, a wave washer spring oriented beneath the computer chip and under the mother board provides an upward pressure against the bottom of the mother board, and particularly against the center of the computer chip. Thus, by the wave washer spring pushing against the center of the computer chip, secure contact pressure is provided between the heat sink and the computer chip, while minimizing the amount of pressure between the computer chip's pins and the chip socket.

    摘要: An integrated cooling and retention bracket is detachably coupled to a computer processor cartridge having a heatsink mounted thereto. The bracket is U-shaped with a cross-bar and a short, perpendicular arm on each end of the cross-bar. The lower end of each arm acts as a hinge for an upward-turned extension on the outer side of each arm. Each extension has a rounded knob at its tip and an outward protruding tooth therebelow. An integrally formed, cooling fan mounting structure is located on top of the cross-bar. The mounting structure has two side panels with a central opening therebetween for holding a conventional cooling fan, which is snap mounted inside the central opening. The cartridge and bracket assembly is installed in a retention mechanism on a printed circuit board. The teeth on the bracket snap into holes in the posts in the retention mechanism to electrically interconnect the processor cartridge to the circuit board. With the assembly installed in the retention mechanism, the fan is located directly adjacent to the cartridge for cooling the processor. The concave surfaces of the end wall and the baffle direct airflow from the fan along the entire width heatsink to maximize the cooling capability of the fan.
