    Abstract: Elevator systems and methods of operating elevator systems having an elevator car within an elevator shaft, a counterweight within the elevator shaft and operably connected to the elevator car, an indicator element located in a pit of the elevator shaft, and an inspection system including a detector located on the elevator car and arranged to detect a location of the counterweight in an inspection region within the pit based a relative position between the counterweight and the indicator element.

Aspects includes operating, by a processor, a sensor to obtain tag data from a tag within a range of the sensor, wherein the tag is affixed to at least one landing of a plurality of landings in a hoistway of a building, wherein the sensor is affixed to a moving component of an elevator car operating in the hoistway of the building and analyzing the tag data to determine a position of the elevator car in the hoistway of the building.

    Abstract: Elevator systems and methods are provided. The systems include an elevator car movable within an elevator shaft, the elevator car includes an elevator car door interlock device operable to open and close elevator car doors, a plurality of landing doors located at respective landings along the elevator shaft, wherein each landing door includes a landing door interlock device operable to open and close a respective landing door, wherein each landing door interlock device is engageable by the elevator car door interlock device to enable operation of the elevator car doors and the respective landing door simultaneously. An elevator component inspection system is configured with a detector located on the top of the elevator car and arranged to monitor the interlock devices, wherein the detector obtains inspection data associated with the elevator car door interlock device and the plurality of landing door interlock devices.

    Abstract: A method of operating a building elevator system having a plurality of elevator systems organized into an elevator group including: detecting crowd data within an elevator lobby proximate the elevator group on a landing; determining a level of crowdedness in response to the crowd data; determining at least two elevator cars of the plurality of elevator systems are required in response to the level of crowdedness; dispatching an elevator car of a first elevator system of the plurality of elevator systems to the landing; dispatching an elevator car of a second elevator system of the plurality of elevator systems to the landing; and coordinating an arrival time of the elevator car of the first elevator system at the landing and an arrival time of the elevator car of the second elevator system at the landing.
