Abstract: A network hub is provided for an onboard network system. The onboard network system includes first and second networks for transmission of first-type and second-type frames following first and second communication protocols. The network hub includes a receiver that receives a first-type frame. A processor determines whether or not the first-type frame received by the receiver includes first information that is a base for a second-type frame to be transmitted to the second network, to obtain a determination result, and selects a port to send a frame based on the first-type frame based on the determination result. A transmitter sends the frame based on the first-type frame to a wired transmission path connected to the port selected by the processor based on the first-type frame received by the receiver.

Abstract: A gateway device is connected via one or more networks to electronic controllers on-board a vehicle. The gateway device includes one or more memories, and circuitry that acquires firmware update information. The circuitry determines whether or not a first electronic controller satisfies a second condition based on second information about the first electronic controller, where the second information is whether the first electronic controller includes a firmware cache for performing a pre-update firmware cache operation. The circuitry also causes, when the second condition is not satisfied, the gateway device to execute a proxy process, where the gateway device requests the first electronic controller to transmit boot ROM data to the gateway device, creates updated boot ROM data with the updated firmware, and transmits the updated boot ROM data to the first electronic controller that updates the boot ROM and resets the first electronic controller with the updated firmware.

Abstract: A vehicle anomaly detection server includes: a communicator that communicates with a vehicle to receive a log of an in-vehicle network in the vehicle; a processor; and a memory including at least one set of instructions that, when executed by the processor causes the processor to perform operations including: selecting, when information indicating that an anomaly is occurring to a first vehicle among vehicles is obtained by the processor, an anomaly-related vehicle from among the vehicles based on the anomaly, the first vehicle being the vehicle that communicates with the communicator; transmitting, to the anomaly-related vehicle via the communicator, a first request to transmit a log of an in-vehicle network in the anomaly-related vehicle; and determining whether an anomaly is occurring to the anomaly-related vehicle, based on information indicated by the log transmitted from the anomaly-related vehicle and received by the communicator.

Abstract: An anomaly handling method using a roadside device is disclosed. The method includes receiving, from a vehicle, an anomaly detection notification, which includes level information indicating a level affecting safety, and a location of the vehicle. The method also includes obtaining a location of the roadside device and determining whether a distance between the location of the vehicle and the location of the roadside device is within a predetermined range. When the distance is within the predetermined range and shorter than a first predetermined distance, transmitting the received anomaly detection notification externally from the roadside device. When the distance is within the predetermined range and is longer than or equal to the first predetermined distance, changing to decrement a level indicated by the level information, and transmitting changed anomaly detection notification. When the distance is not within the predetermined range, not transmitting the received anomaly detection notification.

Abstract: An electronic control unit is connected to a network in an in-vehicle network system. The electronic control unit includes a first control circuit that operates on a first operating system and a second control circuit that operates on a second operating system. The first control circuit is connected to the network via the second control circuit. The second control circuit performs a first determination process on frames to determine conformity of the frames with a first rule. Upon determining that the frames conform to the first rule, the second control circuit transmits contents of the frames to the first control circuit. Abstract: In an anomaly detection method that determines whether each frame in observation data constituted by a collection of frames sent and received over a communication network system is anomalous, a difference between a data distribution of a feature amount extracted from the frame in the observation data and a data distribution for a collection of frames sent and received over the communication network system, obtained at a different timing from the observation data, is calculated. A frame having a feature amount for which the difference is predetermined value or higher is determined to be an anomalous frame. An anomaly contribution level of feature amounts extracted from the frame determined to be an anomalous frame is calculated, and an anomalous payload part, which is at least one part of the payload corresponding to the feature amount for which the anomaly contribution level is at least the predetermined value, is output.

Abstract: A method for verifying content data to be used in a vehicle is provided. The method includes acquiring content data, acquiring, from partial data divided from the content data, a respective plurality of first hash values, acquiring a signature generated by using the first hash values and a key, acquiring state information that indicates a state of a vehicle, determining an integer N that is greater than or equal to one based on the acquired state information, generating, from N pieces of partial data included in the partial data, respective second hash values, verifying the content data by using each of (a) a subset of the plurality of first hash values respectively generated from partial data other than the N pieces of partial data, (b) the second hash values, and (c) the signature, and outputting information that indicates a result of the verifying.
