    Abstract: A light emitting diode (LED) floodlight is described herein. The LED floodlight can include a LED housing assembly coupled to a driver assembly. The LED housing can include a number of LEDs mounted on a front side of a LED housing and a number of heat sink protrusions extending from a back side of the LED housing. The driver assembly can include a driver mounted within a driver housing, where the front side of the driver housing couples to the end of the heat sink protrusions that extend from the back side of the LED housing. The LEDs may be coupled to a number of reflectors. The reflectors can include a reflector body having a top portion and a bottom portion. The top portion can form a shape that is an elongated version of the shape formed by the bottom portion.

In another aspect, a method for sealing a lighting unit includes providing a housing, an enclosure coupled to the housing, and an opening in the housing in communication with the enclosure, placing a seal between the housing and the enclosure, and applying a sealing member to the opening to seal the opening.

    Abstract: Lighting assemblies or lighting fixtures suitable for use in a hazardous location are provided. Generally, the lighting fixtures include a light source assembly, a heat sink, a driver housing or gear module, and a conductive sealing member between the light source assembly and the heat sink. The conductive sealing member has a thermal conductivity of at least about 6 Watts per meter-Kelvin, and/or a thermal impedance of less than about 0.21 degree-C. inch squared per Watt. The lighting fixtures have controlled directional heat transfer from the light source assembly to the exterior of the lighting fixture, while minimizing the heat transferred to the driver housing.
