摘要: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for decoding two-channel matrix encoded audio (32) to reconstruct multichannel audio (34) that more closely approximates a discrete surround-sound presentation. This is accomplished by subband filtering (54) the two-channel matrix encoded audio, mapping (70) each of the subband signals into an expanded sound field (68) to produce multichannel subband signals, and synthesizing (78) those subband signals to reconstruct multichannel audio. By steering the subbands separately about an expanded sound field, various sounds can be simultaneously positioned about the sound field at different points allowing for more accurate placement and more distinct definition of each sound element.

摘要: A storage medium can comprise a substrate, a reflective layer disposed on a side of the substrate, and data. The substrate can comprise a thermoplastic and a light-mark formed from at least a portion of light-marking additive mixed with the thermoplastic, wherein an optical property of the light-marking additive at an optical drive read wavelength can change due to being contacted with a mark wavelength. A method for using a storage medium can comprise directing a reading device to detect an inspection area of the storage medium, and wherein the inspection area on an authentic medium has a light-mark in a substrate of the storage medium that forms an optically induced signature. The optically induced signature can be converted to a digital identification signature and the digital identification signature can be verified for authenticity.

摘要: This invention is a pre-made, re-closable, three-ply bag that has a clear serial number viewing window and is made from flexible packaging materials that collectively prevent corrosion from occurring on assets packaged within the bag while in transport or long-term storage. A VCI chemistry emitting film is used as the inner ply which surrounds the asset with corrosion preventive vapors. The center-play; provides ample cushioning and puncture resistance. The outer ply provides a strong puncture resistant vapor barrier which keeps corrosion causing elements from entering the bag and prevents corrosion inhibiting chemistry from escaping the bag. The use of a re-closable fastener enables asset packaging by un-skilled laborers as well as future asset inspection without compromising package integrity. Packing speed is forty times faster with this invention than previous methods. The invention also allows serial number verification without opening the package. Significant cost savings are achieved through its use.

摘要: A method for the plasma treatment of parts. The method includes sending loading signals from an electronic control to a transfer mechanism and loading the parts from a position outside of the treatment chamber to a plurality of treatment positions within the treatment chamber based on the loading signals. A plasma is generated within the treatment chamber to treat the parts. After treatment, unloading signals are sent from the electronic control to the transfer mechanism and the parts are unloaded from the treatment chamber based on the unloading signals. Each of the parts may be guided to a corresponding one of the treatment positions during loading.

摘要: The present invention is primarily directed to rail car communication system and in particular communication system used to transfer data and voice communications from one car to another. The present invention has particular applicability for use in subway cars. A communication system using an E1 protocol is provided with an interface device which translates data received from a hardware device having, inter alia, a microprocessor and a universal asynchronous receiver transmitter (UART) used for serial communications such as COM 1-4. The asynchronous UART data is interfaced with the E1 channel. UART data transfers are usually done on a byte (8 bits) by byte basis but the present invention uses E1 timing and bit by bit communications. Additionally, data is normally sent at the data rate of the E1 channel not some other unrelated speed such as those used by a UART during serial communications. Also, the data is usually sent synchronously, like the E1 channel, not asynchronously, as with a UART.
