Abstract:
An image processing apparatus configured to generate image data for forming an image using a plurality of color materials of similar colors and of different densities includes a gradation changing unit configured to conduct a gradation changing process for changing gradation of C, M, Y, and K signals of an image and a color separation unit configured to conduct a color separation process for separating color component data for a dark color material into color component data for a dark color material and color component data for a light color material. The gradation changing unit is configured to conduct the gradation changing process before the color separation unit conducts the color separation process.
Abstract:
A method for controlling an image processing apparatus includes a determining step of determining, on the basis of a given first area in an original document image, a second area in the original document image that does not overlap with the first area, and a compositing step of combining a first copy-forgery-inhibited pattern image with the first area and combining a second copy-forgery-inhibited pattern image with the second area.
Abstract:
An image processing apparatus, which supplies image signals to an image forming apparatus, includes a storage unit that stores a limiting value of a sum of signal levels of output image signals, an input unit that inputs C, M, Y and K signals, a first comparison unit that compares the limiting value and the sum of the signal levels, an under color removal unit that replaces a predetermined level of C, M and Y signals with a K signal in an under color removal process when the sum of the signal levels of the input signals exceeds the limiting value, a second comparison unit that compares the limiting value and the sum after undergoing the under color removal process, and where the sum after the under color removal process exceeds the limiting value, an adjustment unit that reduces the C, M and Y signals after undergoing the under color removal process at an identical rate so as to reduce the sum to less than the limiting value.
Abstract:
There is known a technique of inputting the contents of image data and the use purpose of a print material and automatically selecting a combination of color materials appropriate for them. However, it cannot be confirmed before printing whether improvement of image quality commensurate with the cost and labor to input contents information can be obtained. To solve this problem, the ratio of the amount of the color material of a spot color used to that of the color materials of process colors used in input image data is calculated. The recommendation grade of printing using the spot color is determined on the basis of the ratio. Further, display of the recommendation grade is controlled.
Abstract:
A method for controlling an image processing apparatus configured to output image data includes accepting, from a user, selection about whether to permit inputting biometric information, and performing control such that outputting the image data is permitted in a case where the selection for permitting inputting the biometric information is made, and the outputting the image data is prohibited in a case where the selection for permitting inputting the biometric information is not made.

Abstract:
When color materials of more than four colors are used, a signal for the amount of toner used within a range appropriate for the apparatus and toner characteristic is generated using a color separation table. However, a printer receives print data of various formats, such as image data separated into signal values of more than four colors, or image data of a special format to which a six-color separation table cannot be applied. Hence, an image signal representing a combination of colors is input. The sum of the signal values of colors in each pixel of the image signal is calculated and compared with a limit value. When the sum exceeds the limit value, the signal values of base colors are replaced with that of a spot color based on a replacement table for replacing the signal values of the base colors with that of the spot color.
Abstract:
An image processing apparatus includes a first generating unit configured to generate first attribute information of an image and pixels of the image based on rendering commands, a second generating unit configured to perform image area separation processing on an image generated by the first generating unit and to generate second attribute information of the pixels of the image, and an attribute information generating unit configured to generate third attribute information of the pixels of the image based on the generated first attribute information and the second attribute information. In this image processing apparatus, the attribute information generating unit is configured to generate the third attribute information of pixels contained in an object of the image represented by the first attribute information which is identical for each pixel in the object based on a combination of the first attribute information and the second attribute information.

Abstract:
A destination address of transmission of designated image data attached to e-mail and a notification destination address to be notified of error information if a transmission error occurs are set. If a transmission error occurs due to size excess of the transmitted e-mail, retransmission confirmation information containing the error information and designate input accept information for accepting designate input which designates whether to execute retransmission of the e-mail in which the transmission error has occurred is generated. The generated retransmission confirmation information is notified to a notification destination specified by the set notification destination address.
