Abstract: An optical stack for a display device includes multiple layers that are incorporated into a display device that further includes a display panel. The optical stack includes a resin layer, an alignment film, an optical compensation layer, a polarizer, and a hard coat layer that are stacked in this order from a panel side. The optical stack is formed by preparing and coating a solution for each layer, and then curing and otherwise treating each layer as warranted for a particular layer, in turn to form the optical stack.

Abstract: Provided is a curved display device capable of preventing or reducing local light leakage while achieving a certain contrast ratio. The curved display device includes a liquid crystal panel in a normally black mode. The liquid crystal panel includes a first polarizer, a liquid crystal cell, and a second polarizer in a stated order from a viewing surface side. The liquid crystal cell includes a first substrate including a transparent substrate, a liquid crystal layer, and a second substrate including a transparent substrate in a stated order from the viewing surface side. At least one of the first substrate or the second substrate is provided with a third polarizer on a surface of the transparent substrate closer to the liquid crystal layer.

Each of the plurality of antenna units includes one of the plurality of liquid crystal regions.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer, a first polarizer plate, and a second polarizer plate. The first substrate includes a first dielectric substrate, a first electrode, a second electrode, and a first alignment film. The second electrode includes a plurality of slits and a conductive portion. The second substrate includes a second dielectric substrate and a second alignment film. The first substrate further includes a resin layer disposed between the second electrode and the first alignment film. The resin layer within the plurality of slits is as thick as or thicker than the second electrode. The plurality of slits are filled with the resin layer. A difference in height between the resin layer over the conductive portion of the second electrode and the resin layer within the plurality of slits of the second electrode is 10 nm or more.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer, a first polarizing plate, and a second polarizing plate. The first substrate includes a first dielectric substrate, first and second electrodes, provided over the first dielectric substrate and configured to generate a transverse electric field in the liquid crystal layer, at least either of which has a plurality of slits, and a first alignment film placed in contact with the liquid crystal layer. The first substrate further includes an inorganic insulating layer provided between the second electrode and the first alignment film. The difference between the refractive index of the inorganic insulating layer and the refractive index of the second electrode is smaller than or equal to 0.20. The thickness of the inorganic insulating layer is greater than or equal to 50% of the thickness of the second electrode and greater than or equal to 40 nm.

The metal nanoparticles have an absorption peak in a wavelength region of 420 nm or less. An absorbance A1 at the absorption peak of the metal nanoparticles and an absorbance A2 at an absorption peak of the polymer layer satisfy a relationship represented by the following formula 1: 0.2≤A1/A2≤25 (Formula 1).

Abstract: A synthetic polymer film is a synthetic polymer film whose surface has a plurality of raised or recessed portions. The synthetic polymer film has a crosslink structure, and the crosslink structure does not contain any nitrogen element that is a constituent of a urethane bond. The synthetic polymer film contains an organic carboxylic acid, and an amount of water required for dissolving 1 g of the organic carboxylic acid is equal to or greater than 10 mL and less than 10000 mL. At the lapse of 5 minutes since placing a 200 μL drop of water on the surface of the synthetic polymer film, a pH of an aqueous solution is not more than 5, and an area equivalent circle diameter of the aqueous solution is not less than 20 mm. A synthetic polymer film whose surface has a microbicidal activity can be produced using a photocurable resin composition which contains an organic carboxylic acid or a photoacid generator which generates the organic carboxylic acid.
