    Abstract: A steering column assembly includes a telescope drive bracket. The steering column assembly also includes a first jacket operatively coupled to the telescope drive bracket. The steering column assembly further includes a second jacket, wherein the first jacket is telescopingly moveable relative to the second jacket. The steering column yet further includes a collapse limiting feature having a cam portion and a blocking portion, wherein the blocking portion defines a first range of travel of the first jacket in a first position, wherein contact between the telescope drive bracket and the cam portion biases the blocking portion out of a first jacket path to allow a second, greater range of travel for the first jacket.

    Abstract: A clamping arrangement for an adjustable assembly includes a lever operatively coupled to the clamping arrangement for moving the assembly between a locked position and an unlocked position, an aperture extending from an inner face of the lever to an outer face of the lever. The clamping arrangement also includes an outer cam having an outer radial surface at least partially disposed within the aperture of the locking lever. The clamping arrangement further includes an inner cam engaged with the outer cam and adjustable assembly. The clamping arrangement yet further includes a rake bolt extending through the lever, the outer cam, the inner cam, and the adjustable assembly.

    Abstract: A rake adjustment assembly for a steering column system includes a rake lever that is rotatable. The rake adjustment assembly also includes a rake bolt operative coupled to the rake lever and positioned to selectively exert a clamping force to lock and unlock the rake position of the steering column system. The rake adjustment assembly further includes a cam assembly comprising an outer cam formed of stamped steel and press fit within a pocket defined by an outer face of the lever.     Abstract: An adjustment lever deceleration assembly for a steering column includes an adjustment lever moveable between a locked position and an unlocked position. Also included is a clamp bolt operatively coupled to the adjustment lever. Further included is an adjustment lever decelerator operatively coupled to the clamp bolt, the adjustment lever having a base portion and at least one lobe extending from the base portion, the at least one lobe connected to the base portion by a hinge portion. Yet further included is a stationary component engageable with the at least one lobe upon rotation of the clamp bolt toward the unlocked position of the adjustment lever to decelerate the adjustment lever.

    Abstract: A steering column assembly includes an upper jacket. Also included is a lower jacket, the upper jacket translatable relative to the lower jacket. Further included is an energy absorption strap operatively coupled to the upper jacket and the lower jacket, the strap translatable with the upper jacket. Yet further included is an engagement mechanism operatively coupled to the lower jacket, the engagement mechanism moveable between an engaged condition with the energy absorption strap and a disengaged condition with the energy absorption strap, the engaged condition increasing the energy absorption load of the steering column assembly during collapse of the upper jacket into the lower jacket, the engagement mechanism remaining in a stationary position relative to the lower jacket during translation of the energy absorption strap.

The energy absorption strap mounting assembly includes an engagement surface and at least one standoff. The at least one standoff spaces the first energy absorption strap from the engagement surface in an assembled condition.
