    Abstract: A display device includes a substrate of a display panel, including: a display area and a non-display area, an upper surface and a lower surface each in the display area and the non-display area, and side surfaces connecting the upper and lower surfaces to each other; a signal line on the upper surface of the substrate; a circuit substrate on a side surface of the substrate; and a connection electrode on the upper surface of the substrate in the non-display area thereof, where the connection electrode electrically connects the signal line and the circuit substrate to each other. In the non-display area, the substrate further includes: a first etched portion recessed from the side surface at which the circuit substrate is disposed, and a second etched portion extending from the first etched portion toward the signal line, and the connection electrode is in the first and second etched portions.

    Abstract: A display device apparatus provides an increased color reproduction rate and/or contrast ratio. The display device includes a first substrate; a second substrate disposed on the first substrate; and a liquid crystal layer arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate. A reflective layer is disposed on the first substrate, a polarizing layer is disposed on one surface of the second substrate, and a metasurface pattern layer is disposed on the second substrate. The metasurface pattern layer includes a third substrate and a first metasurface pattern disposed on the third substrate.

    Abstract: A display device includes a display panel which displays an image with light, the display panel including a first substrate, a second substrate facing the first substrate, and an image display layer disposed between the first and second substrates; a backlight unit which generates and provides the light to the display panel; and a bottom chassis facing the first substrate to dispose the second substrate therebetween and to define an inner space with the first substrate. The image display layer, the second substrate, and the backlight unit are accommodated in the inner space defined by the first substrate and the bottom chassis.
