摘要： Provided is a method where a power management apparatus (a) acquires, from a server managed by a manufacturer of an electronic appliance, a public key paired with a secret key that the electronic appliance and the server hold, (b) generates a ciphertext by generating a random number and encrypting the random number by the public key, and (c) transmits the ciphertext to the electronic appliance and the server, where the electronic appliance (d) restores the random number by decrypting the ciphertext transmitted in (c), (e) causes an electrical part to operate, based on the random number, and (f) transmits to the server the value of current flowing through the electrical part, and where the server (g) restores the random number by decrypting the ciphertext transmitted in (c), (h) calculates the value of current to flow through the electrical part based on the random number, and (i) compares values of current.

Thus, other apparatuses can play back contents using the playback command and the content key. Furthermore, the information sending device decrypts the content key with the distribution key before being updated, and stores the same. Thus, contents purchased by an advance order can be actually purchased regardless of expiration dates of the distribution key. Furthermore, usage right is passed from a first information receiving device to a second information receiving device different in registration information at the tome of using contents. Thus, contents can be used among information receiving devices different from each other in registration information.

The information processing unit configures an entire binary tree made up of n-number of leaf nodes, a root node and a plurality of intermediate nodes different from the root node and the leaf nodes and divides the entire tree into a plurality of base subtrees including n1/y number of leaf nodes to form a y-level (y is a divisor of log(n)) hierarchical structure, such that root nodes of the base subtrees at a lower level coincide with leaf nodes of the base subtree at an upper level. Further, it assigns subsets of the terminal units to nodes of the respective base subtrees and generates directed graphs where directed edges connecting coordinate points on a coordinate axis are set.

摘要： An information processing system and method are disclosed in which information processing is performed using an enabling key block (EKB) in association with a tree structure including category subtrees. A key tree is produced, which include subtrees that are grouped in accordance with categories and are managed by category entities. The EKB includes data produced by selecting a path in the key tree and encrypting a higher-level key in the selected path using a lower-level key in the selected path. The EKB is then provided to a device. A requester, which requests production of the EKB, may produce a root key or may request a key distribution center (KDC) to produce a root key. If the (KDC) produces the EKB, it may also request a category entity to produce a sub-EKB.
