摘要： A self-checking circuit, which is useful for a highly reliable system configuration, includes a logic circuit having an error detection function. For function blocks for feeding out a plurality of signals that are at least duplexed, the logic circuit compares the output signals of the function blocks, and detects an error on the basis of results of the comparison. The logic circuit comprises synthesizing means provided to superimpose inherent waveforms assigned in advance to the respective output signals of the function blocks onto the output signals of one of the function blocks. The inherent waveforms are orthogonal waveforms generated by an orthogonal waveform generator circuit. The logic circuit also comprises comparison means for comparing a signal output of the synthesizing means with the signal output of the other function block to detect an error. The whole circuit including the function blocks are judged normal only if the waveforms inherent to both output signals exist.

A display control unit reads out a dot pattern image from a pattern image data holding unit and a grayscale pattern image containing a plurality of grayscale patches of gradually varying gray scale from a grayscale image data holding unit, and presents the thus readout images for display on a display device. A user selects the grayscale patch having brightness closest to the brightness of the dot pattern image by operating a selection unit. Based on the selection, a gamma coefficient value is calculated by a gamma coefficient value calculation unit, and based on this gamma coefficient value, a profile creation unit modifies the ICC profile held in a common information holding unit and thus creates a customized ICC profile.

摘要： A disk drive having spacers to compensate for disk warpage is described. The spacers are positioned on opposite sides of a disk with each spacer contacting the disk a different radial position relative to the center of the disk. The offset contact areas result in displaced moments on the disk, with respect to each other, when the spacers are clamped to the disk. The moments generated by the clamped spacers provide a torque on a warped disk to improve its flatness.

摘要： A method in accordance with our invention for providing texture bumps on a substrate comprises the step of forming elliptical ridge-shaped bumps on the substrate. In one embodiment, substrate is used in the manufacture of a magnetic disk used in a disk drive. The elliptical bumps cause less vibration of the read-write head than circular bumps. The elliptical bumps also provide reduced friction between the disk and a read-write head during use.
