    摘要: A coaxial type starter device comprises a motor having a dubular armature rotary shaft 22a, a rotary output shaft 3 partially inserted in the tubular armature shaft from its one side, the rotary output shaft being provided with a pinion 4 to be engaged with a ring gear of an engine, a driving force transmitting unit, disposed at one side of the motor and between the armature rotary shaft and the rotary output shaft, comprising a roller type overrunning clutch 30 and a planet gear wheel type speed reducing mechanism 10 for reducing a revolutional speed of the armature rotary shaft, and an electromagnetic switch, disposed at the other side of the motor, which causes the pinion of the rotary output shaft to engage with or disengage from the ring gear of the engine. The number of rollers 30b in the overrunning clutch is the same as or an integral multiple of the number of the planet gear wheels 10b in the planet gear wheel type speed reducing mechanism; a plurality of through holes 39 corresponding in number to pins 31 for supporting the planet gear wheels are formed in the clutch outer member in the overrunning clutch to be fitted with the pins, and the clutch outer member is supported at an end portion of the armature rotary shaft through a bearing.

    摘要: An output rotary shaft 12 of a coaxial engine starter has at one end thereof a pinion 19 engageable with an engine ring gear and is inserted at the other end into a tubular armature rotary shaft 11a of a motor. A clutch inner member 15b of a unidirectional clutch having helical splines formed in its inner circumference is engaged with a helical spline portion 12a formed on the armature rotary shaft. The engine starter further comprises a bearing surface 21a; 26 on the clutch inner member and a bearing 13 fitted within the inner circumferential surface of the tublar armature rotary shaft, and the output rotary shaft is supported by the bearing surface of the clutch inner member and the bearing. The output rotary shaft may have an enlarged-diameter portion 12b at the position inserted within the armature rotary shaft, which axially extends substantially between the helical spline portion and the bearing and defines a small annular clearance 24 between it and the inner circumferential surface of the armature rotary shaft.

The exciting coil is in the shape of a race track in cross section and has a portion extending near the inner circumferential surface of the casing except for areas where the through bolts extend.In another embodiment, through bolts are extended inside the yoke of the dc motor along its axial direction to thereby assemble the yoke, a housing covering the commutator of the motor and a front machine frame by fastening, and the electromagnetic switch is attached to the housing by means of fitting bolts which extend in a space between the exciting coil and the plunger of the electromagnetic switch.

A solenoid switch is disposed on the rear end portion of the d. c. motor, the solenoid switch having an excitation coil, a plunger electromagnetically moved forward when a current flows through the excitation coil, a movable rod connected to the plunger and extending into a hollow bore of the rotary shaft to oppose the front wall inner surface of the output sleeve at its front end, the movable rod being moved forward by the forward movement of the plunger to move forward the output sleeve, and a movable contact engagable with a stationary contact by the forward movement of the movable rod for supplying an electrical power to the armature.

A clutch outer member of an over-running clutch unit is mounted on the output rotary shaft and is connected to the electric motor for being rotated thereby, and a clutch inner member driven by the clutch outer member through a plurality of rollers is provided with helical splines on its inner circumferential surface. In order to transmit a rotational force from the clutch inner member to the output rotary shaft through splines, a ring member having teeth on its outer circumference and in engagement with the helical splines of the clutch inner member, and a stopper for limiting axial movement of the ring member on the output rotary shaft beyond the stopper are disposed. The pinion may be integral with the output rotary shaft, and the output rotary shaft may be axially slidably and relatively rotatably supported within the hollow armature shaft through a bearing. The output rotary shaft may have a large-diameter portion having formed on its outer circumference outer helical splines which are in mesh with inner helical splines in the clutch inner member of the over-running clutch. Alternatively, the pinion may be snuggly fitted and secured to a small-diameter end portion of the output rotary shaft.

Two windows are formed in the end wall of a rear bracket attached to the rear end of the yoke of the motor; two stationary contacts at the power source side and the brush side are arranged at the rear end portion of the motor and project inside of the electromagnetic switch device through the windows; an exciting coil is disposed in the electromagnetic switch device; and a cup-shaped plunger is slidably arranged in the electromagnetic switch device. A rod is axially movable with the plunger and supports movable contacts to be brought into engagement with the stationary contacts, and a cylindrical body is formed at the end wall of the rear bracket to surround the movable contacts. The cylindrical body is extended such that its free end overlaps with a part of the inner circumferential surface when the plunger is at the fully retracted position.
