    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve a system for filtering conversations. The system generates for display, by a messaging application, a plurality of shortcut options, each of the plurality of shortcut options comprising a respective filtering criterion. In response to receiving input that selects a given shortcut option of the plurality of shortcut options, the system retrieves the filtering criterion associated with the given shortcut option. The system searches a plurality of conversations to identify a subset of conversations that match the filtering criterion. The system generates for display together with the plurality of shortcut options, a plurality of representations of the identified subset of conversations in which one or more messages have been exchanged between a user and one or more friends of the user.

    Abstract: The technical problem of creating an augmented reality (AR) experience that, on one hand, is accessible from a camera view user interface provided with a messaging client and that, also, can perform a modification based on a previously captured image of a user, is addressed by providing an AR component. When a user, while accessing the messaging client, engages a user selectable element representing the AR component in the camera view user interface, the messaging system loads the AR component in the messaging client. The AR component comprises a target media content object, which can be animation or live action video. The loaded AR component accesses a portrait image associated with a user and modifies the target media content using the portrait image. The resulting target media content object is displayed in the camera view user interface.

    Abstract: A content collection is created by a user and comprises a set of content items. In some examples of the present disclosure, a system determines a subtext trigger that is associated with the content collection and associated with a proposed action for a viewer. The subtext trigger is distinct from main content in the set of content items. The system generates context data representing the subtext trigger. The system further generates a first user interface element for the content collection. The first user interface element comprises the context data and is actionable to cause presentation of the set of content items on a device of the viewer. In response to determining that the content collection was previously accessed by the viewer, the system generates a second user interface element for the content collection. The second user interface element is actionable to invoke the proposed action for the viewer.
