    摘要: Exemplary embodiments include a backlight assembly for an electronic display wherein said backlight assembly is comprised of a plurality of tiles. Each tile has a plurality of lights attached to it, such that when a single light or group of lights fail, the tile may be replaced without having to replace the entire backlight assembly. The lights in the assembly may be any one of the following: light emitting diodes (LED), organic light emitting diodes (OLED), field emitting display (FED), light emitting polymer (LEP), and organic electro-luminescence (OEL). Embodiments also allow tiles to be removed from the rear of the display and dissipate heat from the lights to the rear of the backlight assembly.

    摘要: A two-dimensional panel, particularly a liquid crystal display device, has a maximum display area with a width of (T×M) addressable channels. The addressable channels are addressed through a plurality of T source channel integrated circuits (ICs), with each source channel IC having M source channels. The number of addressable channels exceeds the number of channels of data in an image display data array having a width of W pixels, each pixel comprising P subpixels in the width dimension. The excess addressable channels are distributed symmetrically across the width dimension of the displayed image. In other embodiments the number of addressable channels is less than the number of channels of data and excess channels of data are excluded symmetrically across the width dimension of the displayed image. Further embodiments distribute excess addressable channels symmetrically across the height dimension or exclude excess channels of data symmetrically across the height dimension.

    摘要: A preferred embodiment relates to a heating system and a method for heating an electronic display. A preferred embodiment includes a transparent gas heat-transfer chamber which may be coexistent with the viewable display surface. The heating system defines two gas compartments that are anterior and posterior to the electronic display and are in gaseous communication. Fans may be used to propel the isolated gas through the two chambers. The circulating gas transfers heat to the electronic display surface by convection. The isolated gas is preferably transparent or at least semi-transparent.
