Abstract:
Methods and systems are provided for predicting click through rate in connection with a particular user, keyword-based query, and advertisement using a probabilistic latent variable model. Click through rate may be predicted based on historical sponsored search activity information. Predicted click through rate may be used as a factor in determining advertisement rank.
Abstract:
A heat dissipation apparatus includes a heat sink and a fan. The heat sink defines a recessed space at a center of a top end thereof, and an engaging groove in an inner circumference of the top end of the heat sink surrounding and communicating with the space. The fan includes a frame and an impeller assembled to the frame. A plurality of legs extends downwardly from the frame. Each of the legs includes a hook at a free end thereof. The hooks of the legs engage in the engaging groove of the heat sink for securely mounting the fan in the recessed space of the heat sink. Heat pipes extend through the heat sink and connect with a base.
Abstract:
An optical transmitter relaxes the tolerance between a source assembly and a fiber receptacle to facilitate passive alignment. The source assembly includes a light source and a lens. The lens is held at a fixed distance away from the light source using precise support structures typically formed by photolithographic processes. The fiber receptacle includes an optical element. The fiber receptacle is adapted to hold an optical fiber at a fixed distance from the optical element. The lens substantially collimates light from the light source into the form of collimated light. The optical element focuses the collimated light onto the aperture of the optical fiber.
Abstract:
In a wireless network, a device monitors at least one parameter that indicates collision status in the network; compares the at least one parameter to a predefined control frame threshold that is based on a criterion other than packet-size; and activates a control frame feature in the device for sending a control frame prior to data transmission, when the at least one parameter exceeds the control frame threshold. In an 802.11 network, the control frames are RTS (request-to-send) and CTS (clear-to-send) frames. The parameters being monitored can include: a number of acknowledgement and RTS frames detected from a hidden terminal, when the device is in a backoff state; a number of retransmission attempts by the device; and a collision rate determined and transmitted by another device in the wireless network to which the device intends to send data.
Abstract:
A mobile station establishes a schedule by which data is exchanged with an access point. The schedule allows the mobile station to use a low power mode at times outside of the scheduled service periods. However, the mobile station may occasionally need to retrieve additional data from the access point, or transmit additional data to the access point, and so initiates an unscheduled service period to do so.
Abstract:
A method of selecting one or more active slave wireless devices from a plurality of active/parked slave wireless devices is implemented by a master wireless device. The master wireless device initially assigns sequential weights to each active/parked slave wireless device, and subsequently designates one or more of the active/parked slave wireless devices as active slave wireless device(s) based partially or entirely on the assigned sequential weights. The assignment of sequential weights can be accomplished by assigning each active/parked slave wireless device to one of a plurality of ranked groups collectively representative of various traffic types between a base site and the active/parked slave wireless devices. Each active/parked slave wireless device is then sorted within its respective group.
Abstract:
A mobile terminal (302, 304) wakes up from a low power state and initiates a frame exchange in a wireless local area network that supports voice traffic by transmitting a polling frame (602). If the mobile terminal had voice data to send, it is included in the polling frame. In response to receiving the polling frame, the access point transmits a delay frame (604) to acknowledge receipt of the polling frame. If the access point has data for the polling mobile terminal, it transmits a non-delay frame (606) including the voice data, otherwise it transmits a null frame (702). The mobile terminal acknowledges the data from the access point (608), and goes back to sleep until the beginning of the next service interval.
Abstract:
A bead chain with modified structure, which is made by threading the beads of a specific shape to form a chain, and then joining the ends by means of buttons fixed at both ends, wherein some spacers are inserted between the beads to form an alternating pattern. The outer surfaces of the said spacers are engraved with lections, which are Sanskrit or Tibetan and the corresponding Chinese. The buttons at both ends of the bead chain are two separate half objects, which form a sphere or cylinder or the like after being joined. The outer surfaces of these half objects are engraved with lections. The bead chain according to the present invention reduces the cost.
