Abstract:
Aerosol valve is provided with a mixer-homogenizer plate disposed in the bottom of the valve cup. Vapor tap passing vapor into a central chamber between the valve inlet and the homogenizer plate creates a swirl in that chamber and subsequent passage of the mixture through arcuate slots effects high shear to enhance the mixing and promote homogenization in preparation for the ultimate atominzation by the actuator.
Abstract:
Aerosol includes overcap having a shoulder thereinside spaced downward from the top of the overcap and a washer-like element in the top wall of the overcap which may be broken away and placed up under the overcap against the shoulder so that when the overcap is reinstalled on the container, the washer-like element presses down an upwardly directed actuator provided on the container.
Abstract:
Closure for squeeze bottle is provided with swirl chamber into which liquid and air from inside the bottle are introduced. Either the liquid or the air, or both, are introduced to chamber tangentially, and air and liquid are worked therein under conditions of high shear. Fine, well-atomized mist discharges from central orifice from chamber. Orifice may be aimed axially or angularly to axis of container.
Abstract:
Pump for spray dispenser has spring-pressed annular piston serving as an accumulator and controlling flow through the pump discharge so that no discharge passes unless and until pressure within the pump housing is sufficiently high.
Abstract:
A food product dispenser valve which comprises a mounting cup which has a grommet/stem opening formed therein; a grommet defining an axial passageway which extends along an axial length of the grommet and has a sealing edge formed in an upstream end thereof, and a body of the grommet extends through the grommet/stem opening; a valve stem accommodated within the passageway, and the valve stem has a sealing head which is spaced apart from a valve stem shoulder; and a dispensing actuator surrounds a portion of the body of the grommet which extends through the grommet/stem opening, and has a product discharge outlet. The spacing of the sealing head from the valve stem shoulder is less than an axially height of the grommet so that the grommet normally biases the sealing head into sealing engagement with the annular sealing edge to prevent flow through the food product dispenser valve.
Abstract:
A finger trigger spray cap actuator for use in conjunction with a mounting cup (11) on an aerosol container including a base (5) having an integral collar (8), a finger trigger support (22); a finger trigger (3) hingedly connected to the trigger support (22), and a finger grip (39) depending from the finger trigger (3) and extending radially beyond the outer circumference of the collar (8). The present invention also relates to a method of manufacturing the finger trigger spray cap assembly including integrally molding a base portion (5) and finger trigger portion (3) as a single unit about a living hinge (10).
Abstract:
A pressure regulated flow valve which compensates for the decreasing internal pressure inside a pressurized product dispensing container using substantially insoluble compressed gas. Where the internal pressure within the pressurized product dispensing container decreases below a certain threshold pressure, the pressure regulated valve provides for an increase in the flow of the product being dispensed from the pressurized container via the pressure regulated flow valve.
Abstract:
A metering valve assembly comprising a ferrule and a valve housing defining an internal cavity. The valve housing accommodates an annular flange and a compression spring therein with a valve gasket closing the internal cavity. The valve housing is attached to the ferrule such that a stem portion of the valve stem protrudes through apertures provided in both the valve gasket and the ferrule. A stem portion has a discharge passageway which is normally closed by the valve gasket. Either an undersurface of the annular flange or a mating surface of the valve housing is provided with a compressible sealing member while the other is provided with an annular edge. The compressible sealing member and the annular edge form a seal therebetween, when the valve stem is sufficiently depressed, to partition the interior cavity into a metering chamber and a separate filling chamber whereby product may only be dispensed solely from the metering chamber when a product flow path is established.
Abstract:
An actuator assembly for an aerosol container provided with a stem. The actuator assembly controls the dispensing of an aerosol product from the container. The actuator assembly includes a base which supports an actuator within a throughbore of the base in a cantilevered fashion. The actuator is provided with a primary discharge orifice for discharging the product from the aerosol container in a first spray configuration. The actuator assembly includes a secondary actuator mechanism which, when in an inactive position, allows the primary discharge orifice to control solely the discharge of the product to be dispensed from the aerosol container. The secondary actuator mechanism, when in a second active position, communicates with the primary discharge orifice and controls the spray configuration of the product to be dispensed as it is dispensed from the aerosol container. The secondary actuator mechanism can either be pivotally attached to the actuator assembly or completely removable therefrom.
