摘要： An apparatus and method for trimming a contoured non-round workpiece includes a torch for flame treating or trimming the workpiece by impinging a flame on the workpiece, a holding member for supporting the workpiece, the holding member being rotatably mounted relative to the torch, and a control member for cooperating the holding member with the torch so that the torch follows the contour of the workpiece when the holding member is rotated relative to the torch. The control member generates an electronic image of the workpiece and guides the torch along the contour of the workpiece in accordance with the image.

摘要： Relatively light gauge thermoplastic sheet material is pierced by a hot punch to provide a bearing aperture. The hot punch is held in sheet-penetrating position long enough to cause plastic flow of displaced material and formation of a collar-like hub surrounding the aperture. The hot punch is withdrawn and replaced by a cool punch to retard further plastic flow of the displaced material, thereby fixing the aperture in desired size and shape. There results a bearing aperture having an axial length greater than the starting thickness of the sheet material, and consequently a larger bearing surface integrally formed locally in the sheet material. Apparatus for forming the bearing aperture is also disclosed.

摘要： A trimming apparatus for trimming blow molded plastic workpieces includes a torch for heat trimming the workpiece; a turntable for supporting the workpiece, rotatably mounted relative to the torch; and a cam for guiding the torch, the cam cooperating the turntable with the torch so that the torch follows a contour of the workpiece when the turntable is rotated relative to the torch. The cam is preferably disposed on the turntable and in registry with the workpiece, and has a contour selected according to the contour of a surface of the workpiece to be trimmed so as to properly position the torch relative to the surface of the workpiece to be trimmed.

摘要： A hinge mechanism for a cover of a container such as a golf bag comprises a spine, and at least one door panel. The spine has a slot which extends vertically from its lower edge. A pin extends transversely across the slot. A radially outwardly extending rib is formed on the container and fits into the slot in the spine. The rib has a channel therein to receive and trap the pin. The cover is movable about the pin from an upright closed position to an inverted open position in which the cover is adjacent the container and usable as a receptacle.

摘要： A method of manufacturing blow molded plastic cases of the type comprising two hollow hinged containers where at least one of the containers has a compartment, and a door for the compartment is presented. The method allows the manufacture of compartment doors as part of an integrated manufacture without requiring a separate blow molding step to make the door. The method comprises blow molding a standard size door as one face of a first hollow container, in an area of the container which would otherwise be cut out and discarded, removing the door from the container, storing the door for future use, and assembling the first hollow container with a second blow molded hollow container to make a first case. A third and fourth hollow container are blow molded, and an area sized to accommodate the door stock is cut from the third container. The door is retrieved from stock and mounted in the third hollow container. The third and fourth hollow containers are then assembled together to form a second case having a compartment and a compartment door.
