摘要: A method and apparatus for sorting articles with small density differences utilizing a flotation stream. A separator is provided in which a flotation stream continuously flows through a trough and is used to effect the separation of a mixture of articles having small density differences into several groups. Each density group of the mixture of articles to be separated is introduced at the head of the flotation stream at a selected depth. In one embodiment, the flotation stream may be comprised of a fluidized bed which is created by forcing a gas upwardly through a fluidization medium such as sand. In another embodiment of the invention, the flotation stream may be formed from a liquid. Once the mixture of articles is introduced at the selected depth into the flotation stream near the head of the stream, since the density of the flotation stream is greater than the density of the articles, the articles of lesser density begin to ascend toward the top of the flotation stream while at the same time the articles are carried downstream by virtue of the velocity of the flotation stream. Articles having a greater density will be carried further downstream whereas articles having less density will ascend to the top of the stream at a point further upstream, thereby effecting a spacial separation of the articles based on their differing densities.

摘要: A synchronizing system is provided to produce gating pulses which occur only when a pocket between adjacent convoluted rollers is directly under the optical system. These gating pulses control operation of the circuitry of the grading apparatus and the ejection apparatus. With this arrangement, the rollers are in effect blanked out of the field of view of the optical system and the grading system can "see" only articles and objects in the pockets between rollers.

摘要: An apparatus for separation of beets and stones by dry means, which comprises an endless continuously moving separation band including a conveyor run. The conveyor run runs substantially in horizontal direction and is equipped with cam-or fingerlike driver elements disposed about perpendicularly to the surface of the conveyor run and elastically bendable merely by specific heavy stones. A feeding device is disposed at one end of the separation band and two striper brushes are disposed one behind the other above the conveyor run and driven in the same direction of rotation as the separation band. The striper brushes have bristles including points of the latter, and knob points of the fingerlike driver elements have a distance from the bristle points smaller than the thickness of the beets. The feeding device comprises means for feeding intermittently the goods to be conveyed directly to one end of the separation band. The separation band and the striper brushes are obliquely inclined crosswise to the direction of movement and, the rotary axes of the brushes converge with the lower disposed edge of the conveyor run in the direction of movement of the latter and in at least one plane about parallel to the conveyor run.

摘要: A device for removing stones and rocks intermixed with harvested potatoes comprising a conveyor for receiving and conveying same one by one in contiguous relationship with a sensor transmitting mechanical vibrations whereof those vibrations caused by a stone or rock exceed a predetermined level and whereby such discrete vibrations are converted by a crystal pickup to signal voltages and in conjunction with circuit means therefor energize a solenoid operatively connected to a valve to effect communication from a pneumatic source to an air cylinder to reciprocate a plunger ram to eject such stone or rock.

摘要: The invention relates to a separation system for a potato harvesting machine or a preparation machine for separating potatoes, or similar crops, from a mixture of clods, stones, and similar solid bodies. A conveying assembly is thereby utilized to feed the essentially compact mixture as a delivery flow, from where the mixture displaced into the area of at least one drop stage, and thereby influenced by way of a conveying means in the form of an air stream, can be separated. Thereafter, at least the harvested material and the solid bodies, respectively, can be moved on as individual separated goods, and can be moved out of the separation system. The system according to the invention is characterized in that subsequently to the drop stage bringing about a loosening of the mixture, at least one retaining element located opposite the falling separated goods and interacting with the at least one air stream is provided. It is thus achieved in a surprisingly simple way that from there, at least the harvested material and the solid bodies, respectively, can be moved on separately in an essentially opposite conveying direction as sorted individual lots.
