摘要: An apparatus for providing a fluidized bed to effect the separation of a mixture of articles having at least a first density and a second density that is greater than the first density into separate groups. The apparatus includes an inclined trough which is supplied at an input end with either a fluidization medium, such as sand, or a mixture of articles from which a fluidized bed is formed by forcing gas upwardly through the bottom of the trough and through the fluidization medium or the mixture. In the case where a fluidization medium such as sand is used, the mixture of articles is introduced into the fluidized bed medium so as to be entrained therewith to effect separation as the articles travel in the direction of flow of the fluidized bed medium. Vertical oscillatory movement is imparted to the inclined trough to improve the separation and layering where the mixture of articles is fluidized, or to improve the density uniformity where a fluidization medium such as sand is fluidized as the bed.

摘要: Potatoes carried on a roller table conveyor are presented in transverse rows at an inspection area illuminated by a lamp from a first direction and observed by a line imaging camera along a second direction arranged by a mirror to be approximately at right angles to the first direction. The camera scans repeatedly across each row and provides an output detection signal representing the reflected radiation. The camera observes a sharply illuminated boundary of the potatoes against a dark background a micro-computer processes the detection signal to provide an information signal representative of the length of a potato along the direction of its row. Size grading, for example, may be effected by directing potatoes along different routes by deflecting fingers controlled in dependence upon the information signal. An operator may observe potatoes in the inspection area by means of a television camera and monitor, and may indicate by a lightpen a potato to be rejected by the subsequent deflecting fingers. The deflecting fingers are actuated in dependence upon both an identifying signal and identifying the reject potato and an information signal representative of the length of the potato along the length of the row.

摘要: Apparatus for separating a mixture of materials into two categories such as potatoes and stones comprises a source of radiation such as X rays through which the mixture is passed, and detecting means responsive differently to the incidence of the radiation on the two categories of material. Directing means such as deflecting fingers, cause the material of the two different categories to be directed in different directions in response to the said different responses of the detecting means. The detecting means are responsive to the incidence of the radiation on material of both categories, and there are provided means for deriving from the detecting means a monitoring signal representative of responses by the detecting means arising from both categories of material. Visual indicator means may display the said monitoring signal, to give a measure representative of the projected area of the mixture, which passes through the radiation in given time. Alternatively or in addition there may be included control means for varying the supply of mixture to the separating means in dependence upon the monitoring signal.

摘要: A root crop harvester is provided, including a feed conveyor device for conveying conveyable material consisting of harvested crop and additional materials in a feed conveying direction. The root crop harvester also includes a separating device having at least one separating element for separating the additional materials from the harvested crop. The separating device has a conveyable material sensor, which is coupled to a first EDP evaluation unit and, during operation, is directed toward the conveyable material, and which is intended for recording conveyable material data. The conveyable material sensor may be directed toward the feed conveyor device during operation. In addition, the conveyable material sensor may be an optical conveyable material sensor.

摘要: A method is provided for controlling the operation of a machine for harvesting root crop and/or for separating root crop from the rest of the harvested material comprising extraneous materials. At least one optical image-capturing unit captures at least one test image of at least one part of the harvested material which is moved along relative to a machine frame by means of at least one conveyor element. An evaluation device generates, on the basis of a test data set which is generated using the test image or formed thereby, a separating device setting signal for setting at least one operating parameter of a separating device of the machine.

摘要: A harvesting header is disclosed that comprises a support frame and a crop moving apparatus supported on the support frame and operable for moving cut crop material to a transfer region. The header also has a cavity located proximate and lower than an output end of the crop moving apparatus. The header has a crop flow assistance device having a plurality of transversely spaced elements that extend generally longitudinally at least partially above the cavity, and which are operable to assist cut crop material in being transferred from the output end of the moving apparatus to flow over the cavity. The cavity may be operable to receive rocks and/or debris carried by the conveyor to the transfer region. The header may include a rock trap located in the transfer region the cavity being part of the rock trap and may be operable to receive rocks and/or debris carried by the conveyor to the transfer region.
