Abstract:
A bending press is equipped with a movable lower platen actuated by at least three hydraulic jacks, two of which are placed at the lateral ends of the movable platen and at least one of which is placed at the center along the axis of the platen. The hydraulic circuit is associated with a device for detecting the presence of any tilting torque on the movable platen, and with a comparator and computer system connected to the detection device. The jacks are connected to a common directional distributor via pressure control units controlled by the comparator and computer system. This system is capable of producing a continuous reduction in pressure exerted on the jack located on the side opposite to the direction of the tilting torque and possibly also on the jack located at the center so as to produce a torque in opposition to the tilting torque.
Abstract:
The press is of the type including a pair of tool holders mounted in a frame and carrying cooperating tools (die and punch). At least one of the tool holders is motor driven and is movable towards the other tool holder. According to the invention, the press includes a first driver arranged to make one of the tool holders travel a fairly long distance towards the other tool and a second driver, distinct from the first, for making this same tool holder or the other tool holder perform, a subsequent, fairly short working stroke to bend the sheet metal and to effect any coining of the bend. Preferably both of the tool holders are movable, the second driver being arranged to make the respective tool holder complete a fairly short bending stroke, and the press includes a third driver, distinct from the first and second, arranged to make the same tool holder and the other tool holder complete a vertical stroke for coining the bend.
Abstract:
An adjustable support for a die of a press brake includes a mounting bracket which has first and second interconnected portions. A mounting device connects the first portion of the mounting bracket to the ram or bed of the press brake and maintains the second portion of the mounting bracket adjacent a bearing surface of the ram or bed of the press brake and from movement relative to the bearing surface. An adjustment device is provided for engaging the bearing surface of the die and maintaining the die from tipping movement relative to the bearing surface of the press brake during loading of the die. The adjustment device is connected to the second portion of the mounting bracket. The adjustable support is particularly suited for plate forming and bending operations.

The press is of the type including a pair of tool-holders mounted in a frame and carrying cooperating tools (die and punch). At least one of the tool-holders is motor-driven and is movable towards the other tool-holder. According to the invention, the press includes first drive means arranged to make one of the tool-holders travel a fairly long distance towards the other tool and second drive means, distinct from the first, for making this same tool-holder or the other tool-holder perform a subsequent, fairly-short working stroke to bend the sheet metal and to effect any coining of the bend. Preferably both of the tool-holders are movable, the second drive means being arranged to make the respective tool-holder complete a fairly short bending stroke, and the press includes third drive means, distinct from the first and second, arranged to make the same tool-holder and the other tool-holder complete a virtual stroke for coining the bend.
Abstract:
A bending press comprising a lower frame member, an upper frame member mounted above the lower frame member, tool holding means positioned in operative association with one of the frame members for holding bending tool means, die holding means positioned in operative association with the other of the frame members for holding die means, a plurality of first hydraulic rams mounted in laterally spaced relationship to be operative between the tool holding means and the associated frame member, a plurality of second hydraulic rams mounted in laterally spaced relationship to be operative between the die holding means and the associated frame member, the first hydraulic rams being adapted to be hydraulically connected together during use for hydraulic fluid to distribute a load applied to a workpiece during use evenly between the first hydraulic rams and provide compensation for frame member deflection during use, and the second hydraulic rams being adapted to be hydraulically connected together during use for hydraulic fluid to distribute a load applied to a workpiece during use evenly between the second hydraulic rams and provide compensation from frame member deflection during use.
Abstract:
A vertical, hydraulic bending press has a ram which is connected with the hydraulic cylinder so that an even and uniform sectional modulus is applied over the full length of the ram to decrease stress concentration of the ram during bending of the workpiece. The press frame includes means for guiding the ram. Additionally, a load detection device is provided on either side of the ram so that the ram may be stopped when misloading of the ram is detected.
Abstract:
This device for bending the tool holder of a folding press comprises structure for controlling the deformation of the wedge secured at either end, in the form of a hollow screw engaged in a socket rigid with the tool holder so that it can accomplish movements of translation within this socket, a member for fastening the screw to the wedge, a sprocket mounted coaxially to the screw on the screw-threaded shank thereof for causing the translation of the screw in the socket, and a single driving system for controlling the rotation of the set of sprockets acting at different thrust points disposed at spaced intervals along the wedge, this single wedge having a relatively great length and being therefore easily deformable under the control of the single control system.
Abstract:
A die holder frame receivable in the die plate or bed of a press brake has a die holder bar mounted thereto supported on a plurality of adjustable wedges, the forming die itself being mounted in the die holder bar. Wedges are individually adjustable to provide a crown along the length of the die holder bar, and are adjustable as a group to provide various desired heights of the die holder bar.
Abstract:
Apparatus for eliminating faulty bends in press brakes due to deflection between the ram and bed of a press brake which is greatest at the mid point. A compressible polyurethane member is interposed between the die and bed of the press brake and is of such thickness that it compresses to a degree approximately one order of magnitude greater than the total deflection of the bed and ram at the mid point. The polyurethane member is of substantially the same length and in registry with the bend line of the workpiece. Means are also provided for readily lifting the die member to provide polyurethane inserts of a total length to match the bend line of the workpiece.
