The unit has a plurality of vertical sides wherein each side has at least one side aperture. The fitting has a body; a body plate attached to the body and so-shaped as to be cooperable with a side of the unit and receivable in intimate engagement within the side aperture; attachments by which the fitting is attachable to the structure and the body plate is retained thereto receivable within the side aperture by retaining bolts; the body having at least one accessory, such as a guy rope, insulator, dish and platform-receiving aperture for retaining the accessory to the body. The shape of the apertures in each unit side which is complimentary with the body plate, provides a lighter, stronger and more efficacious modular unit and tower.

    摘要: A brace arm for connection to a crossarm of a utility pole. The brace arm includes an elongated wooden strut having a pole bracket at one end and a crossarm bracket at the other end thereof. Each of the brackets are injection molded of plastic or other polymeric material to the end of the strut. The injection molding of the brackets to the ends of the strut causes the brackets to be firmly fixed to the strut. Each end of the strut includes a passage therethrough for receipt of mold material during the injection molding process, and each bracket includes a finger of material which extends into the passage in each end of the strut.

    摘要: A method and apparatus is provided for replacing a pole in an electrical utility support structure while the supported electrical wires remain energized. The method comprises erecting a replacement pole adjacent to a pole to be replaced, and providing a pivotable support arm on the replacement pole so that it will be engageable with the cross arm support carrying the electrical wires of the utility support structure. The support arm is adapted to lift and support the cross arm, whereupon the replaced pole may be disengaged from the cross arm and removed. A guy wire provides support for maintaining the load weight of the cross arm laterally on the replacement pole. The guy wire helps to transfer the supported load centrally on the replacement pole to prevent the supported weight from causing the replacement pole to lean. Mounting brackets are provided for attachment to the replacement pole which provide a base for connection and pivoting of the support arm.

    摘要: The nullpost stabilizernull nullis basically an efficient, inexpensive, time and cost saving device to stabilize posts, poles, columns, etc. The objective is to keep posts, poles, columns, etc. in their upright vertical position, in order for them to do the job they were intended to do. This could be holding up a mailbox, street sign, flag, wires, fence, etc. The nullpost stabilizernull accomplishes its mission by greatly increasing the amount of soil that has to be displaced in order for the post to move out of position. In order for a post to move or tilt out of position, it normally has very little resistance to do so from the soil, especially if the post is thin or round. Up to this time cement tubes have been used to firm up the stability of post. This may still be a requirement in some cases, but it is usually time consuming and can be relatively expensive. In many situations with the nullpost stabilizer,null the stability can be obtained with a fraction of the cost and great reduction of time and effort. The nullpost stabilizernull is basically made up of four (4) interlocking plates, locked in place around the post that are then hammered into the ground, out of sight, and basically requires any movement of the post, except up and down, to displace 5, 10, 20, or more times the amount of soil than without it, in order to move. Thus the post stays in place, stabilized, to do the job it was intended to do.

One exemplary embodiment of a support device of the present invention comprises an attachment member and a support member. The attachment member may be releasably secured to the upright post portion of the utility pole by means of, for example, a band clamp, or a fastener, such as a lag screw. The support member is designed to engage a portion of the cross-arm and secure it in position. Once secured, the necessary operation may be performed without the risk of the cross-arm tipping or falling. After the performance of the operation, the cross-arm retaining means is tightened or reinstalled, and the support device may be removed from the utility pole.
