    摘要: In a controlled deflection roll comprising a roll shell rotatable about a stationary support and braced or supported by support elements at the stationary support, a rotational moment is intentionally exerted at the opposite ends of the roll shell by force-exerting elements. These force-exerting elements extend in axial direction of the controlled deflection roll but are offset in spaced relation with respect to the lengthwise axis of the controlled deflection roll. These force-exerting elements operate in pairs in opposite directions with respect to one another. A lever arm is formed by the distance or spacing between the force-exerting elements and such lever arm exerts a greater rotational moment in the presence of modest space requirements and without deformation of the roll shell.

    摘要: A calender roll wherein a cylindrical shell is rotatably mounted on a stationary carrier by way of bearings which are disposed in the end portions of the shell. The median portion of the shell is heated by a first heating device, and the end portions of the shell are heated by a discrete second heating device. Alternatively or in addition to such expedients, the second heating device can include the bearings in the end portions of the shell; each such bearing includes or constitutes an axial or radial hydrostatic bearing which is heated by hydraulic fluid to thereby heat the respective end portion of the shell. The second heating device ensures that the effective length of the shell approximates or even matches the axial length of the shell.

    摘要: Within the impression cylinder of a rotogravure press and within the roll shell thereof there are provided over the width of the impression cylinder a number of layer packages which can be separately supplied with electrical charge in order to apply electrostatic charges to the impression cylinder surface for the purpose of augmenting printing of a material web. By differently controlling segments of the impression cylinder, there can be accommodated different widths of the material web to be processed. In order to concentrate the electric charge at the actually used region of the impression cylinder and for protecting the zones of the impression cylinder which are not currently being used, there are provided internally of the roll jacket, in axial direction thereof, a number of support elements arranged adjacent one another and braced against a central carrier. These support elements are controlled such that only the support elements in those segments, where there is also supplied electrical charge, exert a pressing force. At the end regions of the impression cylinder, there can be provided counter support elements which are only controlled when there is not applied any electrostatic charge at the end regions of the impression cylinder, in other words, when printing a narrower material web. Hence, in this situation no electrical charge is transferred at the not used roll end regions and the impression cylinder is protected against wear and abrasion.

    摘要: A hydrostatically supported roll includes a stationary crosshead, which extends through a rotatable hollow cylinder to form a surrounding clearance space therewith. Annular sealing elements are radially movable in bores provided in the crosshead to sealingly abut the inner circumference of the hollow cylinder. The sealing elements are arranged in diametrically opposing pairs, i.e., they are offset by 180.degree. in the circumferential direction of the roll at the same longitudinal position along the roll. The entire clearance space surrounding the sealing elements is filled with hydraulic fluid at a predetermined pressure, except for the areas in which the sealing elements are present. The interior chamber of one of the sealing elements in each pair can be filled with hydraulic fluid at a higher pressure than the pressure in the clearance space, while the interior chamber of the other one of the sealing elements of each pair can be filled with a hydraulic fluid under a lower pressure than that in the clearance space. In this manner, the individual forces of the sealing elements in a pair produce a net increased, resultant force in the same direction that acts against the hollow cylinder.

    摘要: A sealing element for a hydrostatically supported roll having bending control is disclosed in which a row of sealing elements is provided in a stationary crosshead for supporting a rotatable hollow cylinder arranged around the crosshead. Each of the sealing elements has a contact surface, including an enclosed circular rim, for abutting the inner circumference of the hollow cylinder. First ducts having a large cross sectional area are connected with a fluid supply line for supplying hydraulic fluid to a hydrostatic pressure chamber formed inside the rim. A cylinder volume is formed in the sealing element between the end of a longitudinal bore in the sealing element and a piston, which includes a central passageway connected with a second, separate fluid supply line. The piston is fixedly mounted to the crosshead and arranged in the cylinder volume. The cylinder volume is connected via second restricted ducts with respective rim chambers, which may be formed in the enclosed rim or radially outside same, for throttling fluid supplied to the rim chambers. The hydraulic fluid in the rim chambers forms a liquid film on the inner circumference on the hollow cylinder over which the sealing element uniformly abuts the inner circumference.
