    摘要: An electromagnetically controlled spring clutch mechanism comprising an output rotating element, an input rotating element, a first boss member rotating as a unit with the input rotating element, a second boss member rotating as a unit with the output rotating element, a coil spring means fitted over and across the first and second boss members, a rotation control member for hampering the contraction of the coil spring, a movably mounted armature, a biasing device for biasing the armature toward the rotation control member, and an electromagnetic device for magnetically attracting the armature. When the electromagnetic device is deenergized, the armature acts on the rotation control member by the action of the biasing device whereby the contraction of the coil spring is hampered. When the electromagnetic device is energized, the armature is moved away from the rotation control member by the magnetic attracting force of the electromagnetic device whereby the coil spring is contracted.

    摘要: A one-rotation clutch for selectively establishing and interrupting transmission of a drive force from a drive source to an object to be driven. A coil spring loosely surrounds the outer peripheries of mutually opposing sprocket member and a cam member. One end of the coil spring is retained by the cam member and the other end by a sleeve, which is rotatable relative to the sprocket member. A locking member is provided to selectively stop the rotation of the sleeve driven by a solenoid. When the sleeve is stopped, the sprocket member idles. When the sleeve is caused to follow the movement of the sprocket member, the coil spring binds the sprocket member and cam member to impart the drive force to the cam member. A pin is studded on the cam member such that when the cam member is rotated in a predetermined direction, the pin immediately abuts against the locking member to urge it away from the sleeve.

An electromagnet is positioned with its poles lightly engaging the surrounding spring portions at circumferentially spaced locations, while either the spring or the output clutch member or both are formed of a magnetically permeable material to complete a magnetic circuit. Energizing the electromagnet causes the poles to clamp the spring to retard its rotation with the input member, thereby causing the spring to wrap down on the output clutch member and engage the clutch.

    摘要: The adjustment means is for permitting field adjustment of wrap-down angle or engagement time for the spring of a normally disengaged, electro-magnetic spring clutch which comprises a helical spring which surrounds first and second drums and is in interference fit with the first drum and connected to a rotatable armature, the armature being rotationally arrested upon energization of an electro-magnetic coil to effect contraction of the helical spring into interference fit with the second drum. The adjustment means comprises a pin and slot lost motion interconnection between the armature and the first drum which functions to allow rotative movement of the first drum relative to the armature when the rotation of the armature is arrested to effect an engaged operative condition. The adjustment means also includes retaining means theremoval of which permits the armature to be axially moved relative to the first drum for disengaging the pin and slot and permits the armature and the spring to be rotated relative to the first drum without disconnection of the spring from the first drum and armature.

    摘要: The drawings illustrate an electromagnetic spring-wound clutch wherein an input pulley hub member is axially aligned with an output shaft hub member, and both are surrounded by a coil-wound spring having one end thereof secured to the output shaft hub member. A flanged clutch armature ring is mounted around and adjacent the other end of the spring, with a bent-end tab of the spring extending through a slot formed in the armature ring. When the armature ring is drawn into frictional contact with a radial wall formed on the input pulley hub member by an adjacent energized electromagnetic coil, the bent tab is caused to rotate with the armature ring, in turn, causing the spring to wrap around and grippingly engage the pulley hub member to thus drive the output shaft hub member, the flux path being from the coil housing across a first air gap to the radial pulley wall and, as a result of a circumferential slot formed in the radial wall, across a second variable air gap into the armature ring around the circumferential slot and back to the radial wall and, thence, back across the first air gap to the coil housing.

    摘要: A helical clutch spring is attached one end to the output hub and at its other end to a collar and lies opposite a cylindrical clutch surface of an input hub. The clutch spring tends to be normally out of engagement with the clutch surface. However, by virtue of resilient means urging a surface on the collar into an opposed surface on the input hub, the rotation imparted to the collar causes the spring to engage the input hub and drive the output hub through the spring. Actuator means may be selectively caused to act upon the collar to draw it in opposition to the resilient means away from the input hub and allow the spring to return to its normal position and the clutch to disengage.
