Abstract:
A dual polarity commutated roll attracts toner and debris particles loosened into a particle cloud from the photoreceptor surface by an acoustical horn. The particles are attracted to and adhere to the commutated roll, whether right or wrong sign (i.e. positive or negative), and are removed from the roll, as the roll rotates, by a scraper blade. The particles are collected in a waste container as the particles are removed from the roll surface by the scraper blade. Residual particles that are not attracted to the commutated roll, are removed from the photoreceptor surface by a spots blade. The cleaning system does not contact the photoreceptor, thus, increasing cleaner and photoreceptor life.
Abstract:
Apparatus for removing toner particles from a film photoconductor used in copiers, printers, and other electrostatographic devices. A piezo film is wrapped around a pliable material which is positioned around a rigid tubular member. The ends of the piezo material are clamped to the tubular member by special clamps which allow the piezo film to expand and contract radially when excited by an alternating power source. The film is positioned against the inside of the photoconductor to impart an agitating or vibrating motion which accelerates and loosens toner particles from the other side of the film. A charged roller is spaced from the photoconductor and attracts the agitated toner to the roller for deposit in a collection hopper.
Abstract:
A method of removing a toner deposited on a rotating drum in a xerographic copying machine, comprises: positioning a blade with its scraping edge positioned closely adjacent to a surface of the drum; and imparting vibrations to the blade so as to bring the scraping edge alternately into and out of contact with the surface of the drum at short time intervals.
Abstract:
Provided is an image forming apparatus in which, while image formation is prevented from being performed, scattered toner that has dropped from a filter and adhered to an outer peripheral surface of a developer carrying member is recovered by a cleaning unit through intermediation of an image bearing member. An absolute value of a perpendicular-magnetic-force gradient of a fixed magnet of the developer carrying member is 4.0 mT/° or less at a position where the fixed magnet faces a central portion of the filter in a rotation direction of a developing sleeve.
Abstract:
A developing apparatus includes: a housing that accommodates developer and has a plurality of constituent parts; a vibrator that vibrates parts, which are two or more of the plurality of the constituent parts and to which scattered toner may adhere, as vibrated portions; an adjuster provided for at least one of the vibrated portions and the vibrator so as to adjust and match natural frequencies of the two or more of the vibrated portions; and a hardware processor that controls the vibrator.
Abstract:
A cleaning device includes a cleaning member for cleaning a surface of an image bearing member while it is moving, a holding member for holding the cleaning member, a vibrating member which per se is vibratable, and a controller for controlling operation of the vibrating member. The holding member is movable toward and away from the image bearing member, the vibrating member is held on the holding member, and the controller actuates the vibrating member upon stoppage of movement of the image bearing member.
Abstract:
An electrophotographic image forming method in which, after transferring a toner image on an electrophotographic photoreceptor onto a recording material, the residual toner on said photoreceptor is removed employing an elastic body rubber blade is disclosed. The photoreceptor has structural units exhibiting charge transport performance; also has a resin layer comprising a siloxane based resin having a crosslinked structure; said rubber blade is brought into contact with said photoreceptor in the opposite direction; and the residual toner on said photoreceptor is removed by vibrating said rubber blade at an amplitude of 10 to 200 &mgr;m
Abstract:
An electrically biased cleaning belt brush removes oppositely biased particles from a surface. The belt brush, which is entrained about supporting members, includes a substrate to which is attached a multiplicity of conductive brush fibers. Particles adhering to the conductive fibers are removed from the brush fibers at a detoning station. The cleaning belt brush is biased to alternating regions of positive and negative polarities.
Abstract:
A printing machine and apparatus are disclosed that include an ultrasonically assisted cleaning blade to remove toner particles from an imaging surface. An ultrasonic transducer is attached to the cleaning blade to provide vibrational energy to the cleaning blade. The ultrasonic transducer concentrates vibrational energy at the blade tip for enhanced cleaning. A further element of the present invention is the addition of bias to create a strong electrostatic repulsion between the toner particles and the blade tip causing the toner to explode away from the cleaning edge, and to therefore enhance cleaning.
