The frame defines a frame viewing opening entirely surrounded by the frame. The mounting formation is located on the frame to mount the frame to a sub-monitor in a position wherein a screen of the sub-monitor is viewable through the frame viewing opening. The opaque planar member is located over the bezel mount. The bezel face includes a translucent planar member and an attachment component. The translucent planar member is located over the opaque planar member. The attachment component has a first end secured to the translucent planar member, extends past a plane of the opaque planar member, and has a second, opposing end secured to the frame.

摘要： Operator interaction with electrical systems is facilitated by providing electromechanical control devices, which have switch buttons, rotary knobs or the like, with flat panel displays that convey information pertaining to the controls that can be changed instantly by a display controller. The display may identify the function of the control, the current setting, create calibration marks or provide other graphics. The images change automatically if the same control is used for multiple functions. In one form of the invention, the display screen has openings in the image area and the controls extend through and protrude from the screen enabling display of graphics in close proximity to the controls. In another form, the settings of controls which are secured to the face of a display screen are optically or magnetically detected by sensors located behind the screen. In still another form of the invention, the display is embedded in a switch key and has an image area that is substantially coextensive with the key. This enables permanent markings, such as are found on computer keyboard keys for example, to be replaced with changeable images that identify multiple functions of the keys.

摘要： A computer system includes a monitor having a universal serial bus (USB) interface for connecting with a base system. Multiple button and LED controls are conveniently placed on a front bezel of the monitor. As the buttons are actuated, commands are passed to the base system via the USB. An on-screen display button causes an application to be launched on the base system for modifying screen attributes stored in a monitor controller in the monitor. A USB controller in the monitor updates the monitor controller via the USB. A multifunction audio dial is toggled by a bezel button between volume, bass and treble functions. The USB controller is also operable to provide a sustain a blinking LED even while the base system is in a sleep mode. LEDs on the front bezel indicate monitor and base system power status.

摘要： A multipiece housing is provided having a mid bucket, an aft bucket secured to the mid bucket, and a replaceable lid fastened to the aft bucket having a thermal vent. The replaceable lid includes a plurality of posts. The posts are inserted against an inner wall of the aft bucket to position and fasten the replaceable lid to the top of aft bucket during assembly. The replaceable lid also includes snap features that clip onto an edge of the mid bucket to further secure the replaceable lid to the bucket. If another replaceable lid having a thermal vent with a different ventilation capacity is desired, a different replaceable lid having a different thermal vent is simply fastened to the same monitor housing.

The manually movable member of the circuit control device, such as a turnable knob for example, is attached to the face of the display within the image area of the display. The display has a light transparent zone within the image area which extends to the back of the display to enable photoelectric detection of the setting of the movable member by a detector which is situated behind the flat panel display. Row and column busbar conductors within the flat panel display, which control light intensity at image pixels, are routed around the light transparent zone to prevent optical signal degradation.

摘要： Circuit control devices of the kind having operator manipulated control members are disposed at the face of an electronically controlled flat panel display within the image display area. This enables display of calibration marks and/or other graphics that can change instantly and automatically in response to changing operating conditions. Operating power for the control devices is inductively transmitted from the back of the display or from the back of the transparent cover plate of the display through spaced apart coils. Control signals produced by the control devices are inductively transmitted to the back of the display or to the back of the cover plate through the same coils or through additional coils. This provides for coupling of the control devices with the controlled circuit without internal modifications of the flat panel display and without requiring that conductors extend across displayed images at the front surface of the display.
