    摘要: A head support device of self-balancing type and a disk drive are disclosed. The head support device reduces manufacturing variation in a load and the number of components, and has stability and reliability, while being inexpensive. In this head support device, a flange and a nut cramp, via a collar, a head support arm having a reinforcing plate fixed thereto. The head support arm is supported rotatably about a line provided between contact points at which pivots contact the flange and in a direction perpendicular to a recording medium. A spring as an elastic member provides an urging force toward the recording medium, and is provided unitarily with the head support arm. Bent portions are provided on both sides of the arm composing the head support arm to a tab.

    摘要: Components and assemblies for a hard disk drive (HDD) with a recessed actuator joint are described. A rotary actuator hub assembly comprises a shaft having a flange, and a pivot seat on which the flange is seated when the shaft is fastened to an HDD chassis. According to an embodiment, the pivot seat has at least one “contact-reducing feature” recessed from the surface of the pivot seat at which the seat contacts the flange. A purpose of the contact-reducing feature(s) of the pivot seat is to weaken the joint between the actuator hub assembly and the chassis, thereby mechanically loosening the rotary actuator assembly from the chassis. Consequently, movements to and vibrations from the chassis are less likely to be transmitted to the rotary actuator assembly and, ultimately, to the HDD read/write head(s).

    摘要: A storage device includes a storage medium; a rotating shaft; a head actuator pivotally supported about the rotating shaft; a head fixed at an end of the head actuator for reading/writing information from/to the storage medium; and a magnetic circuit having a magnetic member and a magnet connected thereto. The magnet has a magnetic characteristic corresponding to the inertia of the head actuator. The storage device further includes a coil fixed at the other end of the head actuator. The coil generates a driving force proportional to the inertia when an electric current is flown through the coil by interaction with the magnetic circuit. The driving force causes the head actuator to be driven to adjust the head to a target position on the storage medium. The magnetic member is configured as a single unit having a common dimension among a plurality of storage devices having different specifications.

    摘要: An ultra-small optical/magnetic head actuator includes: a swing arm movable in a horizontal direction (tracking direction) and a vertical direction (focusing direction) and having mounted thereon a head for reading and writing information on a disk. A tracking actuator moves the swing arm in the horizontal direction (tracking direction) and a pivot hinge adjusts a radius of rotation of the swing arm and guides the movement of the swing arm in the tracking direction. A focusing actuator moves the swing arm in the vertical direction (focusing direction), wherein the focusing actuator includes a focusing coil attached under the swing arm and a Halbach magnet array disposed under the focusing coil minimizes thickness. Friction or backlash can be avoided, and non-repetitive errors can be reduced. The thickness of the ultra-small storage device can be reduced due to the use of a Halbach magnet array.

The actuator mechanism includes an approximately circular coil and a simple shaped magnet, and is capable of displaying adequate performance required for the magnetic disk drive. According to one embodiment, the magnetic disk drive includes an actuator mechanism which has an approximately circular coil and an approximately rectangular magnet. The long axis direction of the rectangular magnet is oriented in parallel to a straight line connecting the center of the inner circle of the circular coil in a state in which the actuator is positioned at the outermost circumference of a data area and the center of the inner circle of the circular coil in a state in which the actuator is positioned at the innermost circumference of the data area.

The moving member is caused to move relative to the vibrating member due to elliptical vibrations in the same rotational direction in basically the three vertices of the vibrating member due to a deformation vibration of the piezoelectric deformation parts.
