    摘要: A hydrant coupling assembly includes a hydrant valve and a hydrant coupler, including a coupler body and a coupler actuating collar assembly having an actuating collar movable axially relative to the coupler body. The actuating collar includes at least one movable latching lug that is selectively moved into place around a mating feature on the hydrant valve adapter by lifting or lowering the actuating collar. A locking mechanism is installed within the coupler actuating collar and includes a coupler plunger, a collar plunger, a coupler plunger check ball, and a collar plunger cheek ball. The coupler plunger and the coupler plunger check ball are adapted to lock the actuating collar in a disconnected state and the collar plunger and the collar plunger check ball are adapted to lock the actuating collar in a connected state. A hydrant coupler for use in a hydrant coupling assembly is also disclosed.

    摘要: The claimed universal polymeric molded fire hydrant is lightweight, weather resistant and will meet the UL, FM, NFPA and AWWA standards established for conventional metallic hydrants. Polymeric fire hydrants will also exceed standard performance expectations by eliminating rusting, binding, cracking and the associated need for periodic painting and lubrication. This polymeric fire hydrant costs less to produce than traditional metallic models providing significant costs savings to commercial and residential developers as well as municipalities. The inherent light weight nature of the units will reduce manpower and heavy equipment required to install it. This hydrant can be manufactured to resemble all existing traditional hydrant designs and performance specifications and will allow for future design modifications as future performance specifications and designs evolve.

    摘要: Proper access for enabling fire hoses to be readily coupled to the hose connections of a fire hydrant is provided without needlessly sacrificing valuable adjacent parking space for motor vehicles by utilizing upwardly oriented fire hydrant hose connections and/or by utilizing open-walled, cage-like protective enclosure components to maintain good and sufficient hydrant clearance and hose connection access space in regions that extend about the hydrant's hose connections. In one preferred form, rounded elbow pipe segments are threaded onto the hose connections of an existing fire hydrant and are rigidly secured in place thereon to provide upwardly oriented fire hydrant hose connections, and/or protective enclosure components are attached to the existing fire hydrant to provide an open-walled cage-like structure that maintains proper obstruction-free access space in regions that extend about the hydrant's hose connections so that fire hoses easily can be coupled to the hydrant. Alternatively, a newly manufactured fire hydrant is provided with upwardly oriented hose connections and/or is provided with protective enclosure components that cooperate, once they are put in place during installation of the hydrant, to ensure that proper obstruction-free access areas are maintained about the hydrant's hose connections so that fire hoses easily can be coupled to the hydrant.

    摘要: A three-way wet barrel fire hydrant includes an enlarged intermediate barrel section, which effectively reduces pressure loss in the fire hydrant. The hydrant barrel is formed by an improved sand molding process which requires the mold parting line of the barrel to be selected to coincide with the centerline of the upper nozzle opening. In this manner, a pattern which forms the sand mold may be removed cleanly from the molding sand, thereby eliminating the need of multiple side cores during the casting process.
