    Abstract: A gate valve includes a valve body and a valve cover. The valve body includes a first opening, a second opening, a third opening, a flow passage from the first opening to the second opening, and a gate channel from the flow passage to the third opening. The gate channel has a central longitudinal axis and a ridge defining a perimeter of the third opening. The valve cover can fit over the third opening and, under force on the valve cover, exert a clamping force on the ridge. The clamping force has a first force component perpendicular to the central longitudinal axis and a second force component parallel with the central longitudinal axis. The first force component of the clamping force is toward the gate channel. The ridge includes a first surface configured to mate with a first surface of the valve cover.

    Abstract: A valve setup for SMB chromatography includes a cassette block, a control block, a swiveling door, and a flexible pressurizing tube. The cassette block is configured to control each of a plurality of valves when an operation surface is in close contact with a control surface of the cassette block. The swiveling door is hinged to the valve control block such that an open state of the door arranges the cassette block such that the control surface is at the operation surface of the control block, and a closed position holds the cassette block with an inner surface of the swiveling door abutting a rear surface of the cassette block opposite the control surface. The flexible pressurizing tube is arranged at the inner surface of the swiveling door so the pressurizing tube presses against the rear surface of the cassette block when the pressure in the tube is increased.

    Abstract: The presently-disclosed subject matter includes valve covers. The valve covers can protect valves from exposure as well as from tampering. In some embodiments the valve cover comprises a cap that includes a top end and a side wall that is substantially cylindrical. Embodiments of valve covers also include a plug on an interior side of the top end of the cap that projects toward the opening of the cap. When the valve cover is installed, the plug can extend beyond an opening of the valve.

    Abstract: A housing assembly for a manifold includes a first housing with an inlet and a plurality of outlets, a second housing, and a valve retainer engaged with the first and second housings. The valve retainer includes a retention plate defined between first and second surfaces, a plurality of slot walls extending from the first surface, and a protruding edge that extends from a flanged lip and surrounds the plurality of slot walls. The retention plate defines a plurality of slots corresponding to the plurality of slot walls. The first housing may define a groove that receives the protruding edge, and the second housing may include a rim that engages the flanged lip of the valve retainer. Valve housings including first and second mating structures separated by wall segments may be positioned in outlets of the first housing and corresponding slots of the valve retainer.
