Abstract:
There is described a method and a system for edging a core, comprising a carrier adapted for connection to a contiguous edge of a core, a surface casing adapted for a conformable fit over the carrier and means for connecting the surface casing to the carrier for a conformable fit therebetween.
Abstract:
A unitary protective bumper rail for protecting a substrate comprises a resilient, longitudinally-extending mounting member having a substantially planar mounting surface for flush attachment to the substrate, a resilient, longitudinally-extending protective strip, and a hinged connector attached to the mounting member and protective strip along the adjacent longitudinally-extending sides thereof. The connector permits pivotal movement of the protective strip relative to the mounting member between a first position in which the protective strip overlies the mounting strip and a second position in which the protective strip is pivoted from said mounting member. The mounting member includes a latch mounted along the longitudinally-extending side thereof opposite the side thereof that is hingedly connected to said protective strip, and the protective strip includes a connector mounted along the longitudinally-extending the thereof opposite the side thereof that is hingedly connected to the mounting member. The latch and connector are arranged to engage each other when the protective strip and the mounting member are in the first position.
Abstract:
A combination hearth seat and child protector includes a rigid internal frame consisting of a top and front piece having a first layer of stiff foam adhered to the upper surfaces of the frame. A fire retardant material covers the foam and surrounds the entire frame. The protector is dimensioned to extend the entire long length of the hearth, while extending 3/4 to 2/3 of the short length of the hearth from the edge opposite the firebox therein. In a second embodiment, the internal frame includes side pieces. A second layer of foam surrounds the first layer of foam and also extends about the underside of the end pieces. The fabric is then placed about the second layer of foam. The side pieces have a beveled end that fits over the sides of the hearth. The compression of the second foam layer and the beveled end pieces combine to create a compression or snap-on feature to keep the seat snugly thereon. The second layer of foam may extend about the underside of the front piece as well.
Abstract:
A detachable wall trim having an elongated section of decorative wall trim with a coextending recess channel on the back face. Two or more spaced fastener clips are received in the channel. These clips are formed of one piece plates having spaced screws for holding them or securing them within the channel on the back face of the trim. A key-hole shaped screw head retaining slot is provided in each of these plates and each key-hole slot has a screw head access opening with a narrower screw shaft slot extending therefrom for slidably receiving a screw shaft without permitting passage of the screw head through the screw shaft slot. The wall screws are first fastened to the wall and properly aligned with the clips and then the screw heads extending from the wall are permitted to sufficiently extend from the wall so that they pass through the key hole slots to retain the trim on the wall where desired. These clips are adapted for 360.degree. orientation within the channels so that the detachable trim may be applied at any desired orientation on a ceiling or wall.
Abstract:
An elongated elastomeric T-molding formed of a body having opposed decorative outer and inner mounting surfaces defining spaced first and second edges and being adapted for flush mounting to an edge of an article of furniture by means of an integral flange projecting at right angles outwardly of the inner mounting surface of the body is frictionally fitted within an elongated groove within an edge of a planar article of furniture such that the inner mounting surface of the body lies flush with the edge of such planar article of furniture. The body has at least one decor line and preferably laterally spaced parallel decor lines integrally molded within the outer surface of the body and extending longitudinally along the body. The color of the elastomeric material of the decor line or lines contrasts with that of the body and is preferably of different durameter hardness. Preferably, the decor lines project outwardly from the decorative outer surface of the body to function as bumpers to prevent marring of the body decorative outer surface. The integrally molded decor lines, which may be commonly extruded with the body, may be of oval, circular, triangular or other cross-section.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a reconfigurable space frame cabinet for mounting to a vehicle and a method of assembly therefor. The reconfigurable space frame cabinet includes four elongated corner members having two parallel extending grooves on a first side and a plurality of mounting holes on a second side for adjustably mounting various hardware fittings. First and second channel members having first and second channels, respectively, are mounted substantially perpendicular to the four elongated corner member. First and second side panels are positioned within the first and second channels adjacent to the elongated corner members. Four trim covers, each having two parallel extending fingers are used for removably engaging the two parallel extending grooves in the elongated corner members. A top assembly having various recessed features is mounted substantially perpendicular to each elongated corner member. The entire space frame cabinet is then removably mounted to the vehicle in a manner such that the reconfigurable space frame cabinet can be reconfigured into various configurations to meet the user's requirements.
Abstract:
A nosing assembly (10) is provided for a desk work surface (14) having a front end portion (12) and comprises a lower block (18) attached to the underside of the desk work surface, the lower block having a first exterior surface (19). A nosing (22) is attached to the first exterior surface, and substantially surrounds and conforms to the first exterior surface. The desk work surface is thereby provided with a nosing to protect the desk work surface and users thereof.
Abstract:
A table corner apparatus comprises a tabletop having a corner formed from the intersection of two side edges, two peripheral elongate support beams mounted to the underside of the tabletop near and parallel to the two side edges, each beam having an end located near the corner with the ends also located near each other, and a plastic web disposed between the support beam ends. A rigid corner insert mounted in the corner comprises an edge insert disposed adjacent the side edges at the corner, an impact block disposed between the edge insert and the exterior surfaces, relative to the center of the tabletop, of the support beams and web, a retaining block disposed oppositely from the impact block at the interior surfaces of the support beams and web, and a rigid connector between the retaining and impact blocks. A method of minimizing impact damage to the table corner comprises receiving the impact at the corner insert and transferring the force of the impact to the support beams.
Abstract:
The invention features a flexible protective strip having one or more longtitudinally extending inserts which provide the protective strip with greater impact resistance, greater strength and an improved locking action in the mounting member. The resilient strip preferably includes a pair of oppositely disposed, inwardly extending latch members which include inserts to provide the improved locking action. The mounting member preferably includes a web portion having a pair of oppositely disposed web-latch extensions extending across a chord of the body, substantially parallel to a tangent to the circumference of the body at its mid-line, and at least one leg member extending from the web portion away from the body.
Abstract:
A process and machine are provided to manufacture furniture parts and the like with a unique, durable, low gloss finish which has a soft, satin feel, and imparts a monolithic appearance to the part. A blank cut from a suitable substrate material is grooved about its marginal edge to a depth near the opposite surface of the blank. A liquid edge protection material is poured into the groove and fully cured. The blank is then cut through at the filled groove to create a decorative protective strip about the marginal edge of the blank. The formed blank is next coated with a selected paint or base material. After the base coat is cured, a layer of UV curable, protective material is applied to the painted surfaces of the blank. The UV coated blank is then translated through a multi-stage, continuous feed, ultraviolet processor to selectively and sequentially cure the protective coat. Powered rollers arranged in spaced apart groups convey the parts through the processor. UV light sources are located above and below the rollers, vertically in line with the spaces between adjacent roller groups, and have selectively oriented reflectors which contemporaneously and uniformly radiate all of the UV coated surfaces of the blank to form a mar-resistant, low gloss protective coat, which together with the base coat, imparts a soft feel, and monolithic appearance to the finished part.
