    摘要: A tool holder for clamping an insert holder has a main block, two clamping members and a single adjustment member. The main block has a longitudinal side surface with a longitudinal groove with upper and lower walls. The two clamping members include mirror symmetrical left and right clamping members interfacing with two inclined non-parallel planar ramping surfaces of the lower wall of the longitudinal groove. A blade-shaped insert holder is mounted in the longitudinal groove on the two clamping members. The adjustment member interfaces with the two clamping members, and when rotated causes each clamping member to move up its respective non-parallel planar ramping surface, decreasing the distance between the two clamping members and the upper wall of the longitudinal groove until a clamping force is uniformly applied between the insert holder and the upper wall of the longitudinal groove.

    摘要: A thread making device that has a thread form with controlled height adjustment. The thread making device is formed from a threading cartridge mounted on a threading bar. A thread form with a cutting edge is secured in a pocket on the threading cartridge bounded on one side by an adjustable height clamp, whose position relative to the threading cartridge is controlled by serrated faces on the adjustable height clamp and the threading cartridge. The thread form has a thickness extending in a wear direction, and the serrations of the serrated faces allow height adjustment of the adjustable height clamp in the wear direction.

    摘要: A support- and -cutting-tool assembly for use with a lathe for machining elongated flexible rods which, in their initial form, may be cylindrical or polygonal in cross section. The tool assembly includes a carrier adapted to be mounted upon the carriage of a lathe so as to be reciprocated axially thereby toward and away from the collet of the lathe. The carrier is disposed transversely with respect to the path of movement and has a large central opening within which is removably mounted a support block having a passage therethrough alignable with the collet and through which the elongated workpiece projects when gripped by the collet. A cutting bit mounted upon the carrier at the trailing end of the passage is engageable with the workpiece to remove stock therefrom as the workpiece is rotatably driven by the collet and as the carrier and carriage upon which it is mounted are displaced toward the collet. Thus, even though the workpiece is flexible and tends to bow or whip, it may be supported at one end only by the collet and is nevertheless fixedly constrained by the support block during the machining operation at the exact location at which the cutting bit is removing stock therefrom.
