Abstract:
Fatty branched polyalkoxylates, particularly of the formula: R1O(AO)mR2 (I) where R1 is C8 to C30 aliphatic hydrocarbyl or acyl; AO is predominantly branched alkyleneoxy, particularly propyleneoxy; m is from 2 to 50; and R2 is H or a is C1 to C4 aliphatic hydrocarbyl or acyl, are used as fabric conditioners in CO2 based dry cleaning systems. The cleaning medium may include detergent surfactant and/or non surfactant cleaning additive or may be free from such additives in which case the treatment can be provided in a rinse cycle in a cleaning process.
Abstract:
An article comprising a first pouch made of a water-soluble material containing a first solid and/or liquid composition and a second pouch made of a water-soluble material containing a second solid and/or liquid composition characterized in that at least one of the first and second pouches is made from a material which remains substantially intact when immersed in water under a first set of conditions but will readily dissolve or disintegrate when immersed in water under a second set of conditions.
Abstract:
A laundry stain and soil pretreatment sheet including a water soluble or water dispersible carrier layer, preferably polyvinyl alcohol, a removable separator layer, and a layer of cleaning agent composition therebetween. The separator layer is removed, the composition layer is adhered to a stain on clothing, and the clothing is laundered to treat the stain. The carrier layer dissolves or disperses during the laundering. A method of treating a stained or soiled area of a fabric using the sheet is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A multi-drum washing/drying machine includes a main rotating housing supported within a cabinet. The housing supports multiple drums that are rotatable independent of the rotating housing. The rotating housing rotates about a main axis to increment each of the drums through a washing station and a drying station to provide washing of multiple different loads of laundry with only one initial loading operation.
Abstract:
An α-amylase from Bacillus subtilis (AmyE) produces significant amounts of glucose from various carbohydrate substrates, including vegetable starch, maltoheptaose, and maltotriose. Among other things, this advantageous property allows AmyE or variants thereof to be used in a saccharification reaction having a reduced or eliminated requirement for glucoamylase. The reduction or elimination of the glucoamylase requirement significantly improves the efficiency of the production of ethanol or high fructose corn syrup, for example.
Abstract:
A dry cleaning process for in-home dry cleaning comprising a dry cleaning step of contacting a laundry article stained with particulate soil with a dry cleaning composition wherein the liquor to cloth ratio (w/w) (LCR) is at most 20, and wherein the composition comprises a) a non-flammable, non-chlorine containing organic dry cleaning solvent; b) a cleaning effective amount of an acid surfactant.
Abstract:
A packaged detergent composition comprising a container that at least partly disintegrates in an aqueous environment, the container having at least one compartment, the detergent composition having at least one fluid phase and at least one solid substantially insoluble in the fluid phase and having a size sufficient to be retained by a 2.5 mm mesh wherein the movement of the at least one solid within the container is restricted, as well as its use in an automatic dishwashing or laundry washing machine.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to laundry additive sachets. The sachets comprise at least two compartments and may comprise further compartments. At least one of the compartments comprises a liquid laundry additive composition.
Abstract:
A dry cleaning process for in-home dry cleaning comprising a non-aqueous dry cleaning step of contacting a laundry article with a non-aqueous dry cleaning composition whereby the liquor to cloth ratio (w/w) (LCR) is at most 20, and the composition comprises a) a non-flammable, non-chlorine containing organic dry cleaning solvent; b) from 0 to 0.1 wt. % water by weight of the composition; and c) less than 0.9 wt. % of a surfactant wherein the surfactant comprises at least one anionic headgroup.
