    摘要: A floating mooring device adapted to be used with one or more piles projecting upwardly in a body of water. The device includes a float which is fastened to a cylindrical collar loosely surrounding the piles so that the float can move upwardly or downwardly along the pile in response to tidal action. A conventional mooring cleat or ring is carried by either the float or collar to which a line extending from a moored vessel may be fastened. Since vertical movement of the vessel responsive to tidal action is matched by the vertical movement of the float, the line may be tautly fastened to the float in order to prevent excessive movement of the vessel, yet tension of the line remains constant responsive to tidal action. The embodiment of the device used with a single pile includes a cylindrical float extending around a cylindrical inner sleeve which loosely surrounds the pile. In one embodiment the float is formed by an outer sleeve concentrically surrounding the inner sleeve with the space therebetween being either hollow or filled with a buoyant material. In another embodiment the float is formed by a plurality of axially spaced tires filled with a buoyant material surrounding the inner shell. The embodiment used with a pair of spaced-apart parallel piles or dolphins includes three interconnected collars, two of which loosely surround the pile, with the remaining collar being tightly secured to an elongated, cylindrical float.

    摘要: A device for example for securing a boat to a dock having spaced boards. The device comprises a body having a shaft and an elongated head secured transversely to one end thereof. A plate is mounted on the shaft for slidable movement thereon towards and away from the head with its plane parallel to the head, to provide an adjustable but uniform space between corresponding points on confronting surfaces of the head and the plate. These surfaces, during operation of the device act to grip therebetween planking of the dock. A spring is associated with the shaft and plate to urge the plate towards the head as this space is increased from a minimum value. The device further comprises a ring to which a line from the boat may be secured. This device greatly facilitates mooring a boat or the like to a dock or similar anchor structure in that the device, to which a line from the boat has been attached, need merely have its head passed longitudinally between adjacent, spaced boards of the dock against the urging of the spring, and its body then rotated so that its head is transversely located with respect to that space. The device thereby grips between the confronting surfaces of the head and plate these boards of the dock.

The limp hang line offers a great latitude of movements and ease of handling for connection in rough sea conditions. The correct method of attaching a free moving vessel to a stiff ramp structure is critical during the docking operation in order to prevent excessive shock loads.

    摘要: A displacement hull ship has one or more elongated hull structures underlying and supporting a deck structure. The hull structures each have a pair of elongated side walls extending longitudinally of the ship. The side walls have relatively widely spaced upper portions and relatively narrowly spaced lower portions joined by inclined intermediate portions. The lower portions define opposite sides of a displacement keel. When the ship is at rest, its displacement water line is near the juncture of the upper and intermediate portions. Hydrofoils are provided at submerged locations on the displacement keel to raise the ship in the water when the ship is underway such that the cruising water line is near the juncture of the lower and intermediate portions. A plurality of such hull structures may be arranged side-by-side to support a common deck structure. Some of the hydrofoils may be advantageously located between adjacent side-by-side hull structures. Separate propulsion units and rudder controls are preferably provided on separate ones of the hull structures.

    摘要: This invention relates to a mooring structure and method, comprising a triangular template or diaphragm having vertical sleeves at the corners through which tubular legs or piles are driven in telescoping arrangement. The vertical sleeves have diametrical offsets to enable their easy connection to the diaphragm. The sleeves are welded to angularly cut bottom ends of the legs. A prefabricated triangular casting is welded to the interior surfaces of the tops of the legs. Concrete is then poured through a funnel simultaneously into all the legs. One or more diaphragms may be used with each structure at a selected height above or below the water level.
