摘要: A method is disclosed where modified text, text display, and rate are performed to make reading more efficient including speed, comprehension, and retention. The text is displayed at a reader-controlled variable rate, in logical lines, emphasizing nouns and verbs vs. their modifiers, i.e., adjectives and adverbs in a manner that makes it easier for the reader to move through the text efficiently. These modifications, and others, are built into the reading software/application/system context, i.e., virtual or augmented reality or flat display, and can be tailored by reading material type, reader purpose, and reader personal preferences vs. the default positions for type and purpose. This method can be applied to any form of electronic display or interface and also may be specifically applied to printed material by performing some of these functions while preparing the product for printing. The text may be further annotated/modified while reading in accord with user goals.

摘要: A computer-based reading-fluency training tool for helping a reader increase her/his reading speed and comprehension. In some embodiments, the training tool includes a reading frame that displays multiple lines of multiline reading material. The displayed multiple lines are masked, and the training tool moves a guided window through the multiple lines in a controlled manner to temporarily unmask a portion of the multiple lines to guide the reader through the reading material. The multiline reading material can be text-based material for reading-comprehension sessions. The multiline material can be symbol-based material for visual-perception training

摘要: A system and computerized method is provided that controls a reading slot to provide aid to a user in reading a passage. The computerized method includes generating a mask having an opaque portion and a reading slot. The opaque portion covers a plurality of lines having characters that are visible through the slot. The plurality of lines includes at least a first line and a second line. The method includes advancing the slot at a midline velocity in relation to the first line of the passage, and increasing the velocity of the slot in accordance with a digital transition velocity profile when the slot enters a transition zone of the passage.

摘要: A method and device for teaching a given language to one or more users in an entertaining manner is provided utilizing a media series for teaching a given language to one or more users, particularly young children. The media series contains the given language as well as language other than the given language and is made up of series lessons which sequentially contain an increasing percentage of the given language. A user is progressively exposed to the media series by exposing the user to the series lessons in sequential fashion beginning with a first series lesson containing a lowest percentage of the given language and ending with a last series lesson containing a highest percentage of the given language. The given language to be learned is utilized and presented strategically such that the meaning of the given language can be readily and intuitively understood and wherein no supervision is necessary.

摘要: A method of providing an instructional scaffold to person learning to read English language comprises displaying printed matter to the learner in the form of lists. Preferably text stories. The normal spacing of the letters in words is kept intact; in a first part of the method the rime portions of monosyllable words are bolded and made larger than the onset portions; and in a second part of the method, which also may be used independently, the sequential syllables of multisyllable words are emphasized by alternating plain font with bolded font and the long vowels are identified, for example by underscore, again with the words of any text being kept intact.
