摘要： Disclosed herein are embodiments of batch-style bottom-discharge rotary debarkers for removing bark from a batch of logs in a bin and discharging debarked logs from a bottom of the bin. In some embodiments, the bin includes four walls and an opening in its bottom. In some embodiments, the debarkers include a plurality of rotors, a plurality of chutes, and a plurality of conveyor belt systems for carrying bark and logs away from the bin. In some embodiments, the debarkers include an internal gate which can be moved between a debarking configuration and an unloading configuration.

摘要： A lathe cutter and chip fan is described in which an annular frame includes a rotary portion that is driven to rotate about an axis. The rotary portion is annular, forming a workpiece receiving opening. A cutter is mounted on the rotary portion and projects into the workpiece receiving opening. The cutter rotates with the rotary portion to cut material from a workpiece positioned within the workpiece opening. A housing forms a compartment about the rotary portion and cutter, with a central housing opening substantially aligned with the workpiece receiving opening. A chip discharge openly communicates with the compartment and is situated substantially tangentially with respect to a rotational path of the cutter. A plurality of impellers are mounted to the rotary portion for rotation therewith. The impellers are configured to produce an airflow through the housing with intake air entering through the central housing opening and discharging through the chip discharge, whereby chips of workpiece material removed from the workpiece by the cutter may be discharged in the airflow through the chip discharge.

摘要： A barking machine has a container for processing logs formed with openings each extended lengthwise of the container, a transfer guide plate disposed between the openings, multiple notches formed in the openings, lower and side cylindrical rotators each having protruding barking blades on its outer periphery which pass through the notches, and a supporting member for retaining the transfer guide plate. In such a construction, the rotors are partially inserted into the openings, respectively. The lower rotor rotates so that its barking blades move toward the side opening, and the side rotor rotates so that its blades move upwardly. With this arrangement, it is possible to prevent the logs from being blocked between the rotators or falling from therebetween, and to provide a strengthened transfer guide plate with no deformation, thereby enhancing the circulating of logs in the container and the barking operation.

摘要： A log debarker of the hollow-head type having a rotor journaled in a stator for rotation about a longitudinal axis of the rotor. A plurality of debarking tools are attached to the rotor for debarking a log being moved axially through the rotating rotor. Three independently and hydraulically-powered infeed spiked rollers are positioned on the infeed end of the stator for feeding logs into the rotor and three independently and hydraulically-powered outfeed spiked rollers are positioned on the outfeed end. The rollers are powered at differing rotational speeds to accommodate logs of uneven surfaces. An air-operated tensioning system including a quick release valve adjusts the position of the infeed and the outfeed rollers urging them towards the longitudinal axis and automatically jogs the rollers open when they are unable to mount a log. A lubricating system having lubricant filtering and flow control capabilities lubricate and flushes the bearings for the rotating rotor.

摘要： A roller feed device in a log-feed assembly. The device includes an elongated arm having an inner mounting end and an outer roll-carrying end. Formed in the outer end region of the arm is an elongated cavity which receives a bearing cartridge by axial movement of the cartridge toward the arm's inner end. The cartridge includes a bearing-journaled shaft which is detachably coupled, at its inner end, to a drive train in the arm, with axial insertion of the cartridge into the cavity. A feed roll in the device is detachably mounted on the outer end of the cartridge shaft for rotation thereon. Removal of the feed roll from the cartridge shaft provides access required for detachment of the cartridge from the arm.

摘要： In order to effect removal of both limbs and bark from wood, such as trimmings or trees removed in thinning, with satisfactory results in a barking drum, the drum proper comprises a cylindrical pretreatment section of large diameter, a tapering transition section and a cylindrical final treatment section of smaller diameter. In the pretreatment section, which has a larger number of log lifters, an intensive treatment of the bundle takes place, so that the stems of the trees are exposed while branches and twigs are crushed. In the transition section, which has only half the number of log lifters, the tumbling motion of the wood subsides and a change-over takes place to parallel barking, which is concluded in the final treatment section, where the number of log lifters is again increased, suitably up to the original number. The pretreatment section is preferably preceded by an infeed section with infeed means arranged on the inside for quick feeding-in of the bundle of trees into the pretreatment section. The infeed means can consist of helically extending pusher vanes.

摘要： A device that forms smooth cylindrical surfaces along a log being moved longitudinally past a cutting station. The device includes a feed conveyor that moves successive logs longitudinally past a cutting station. A planetary cutting head drive is situated at the cutting station. The drive rotates a cutting head about a first planetary axis spaced from the log axis. It also revolves the cutting head about a stationary second axis that is coaxial with the log axis. A smooth cylindrical cut is thus made about the periphery of the log as it is moved longitudinally parallel to its axis.
