    Abstract: A rotary log debarker comprising a container. The container comprises a bottom part, two opposed longitudinal walls extending upward from the bottom part, one end wall, and a chute. The bottom part comprises rotors being drivable by a power source. The rotors comprise a plurality of debarking plates. The debarking plates comprise an abrasive surface. The rotary log debarker is characterized in that it is provided with a tilting system for adjustable tilting of the container about a pivot point.

    Abstract: A debarking mechanism including of rotatable debarking shafts extending parallel to an advancing direction (A) of the logs to be fed therethrough, which are provided with teeth extending beyond the circumferential surface of the shaft. At least the uppermost debarking shaft is moved sideways towards the inner part of the debarking mechanism in such a way that each debarking shaft directs an impact effect on logs colliding with it and moved by the debarking shafts located in a lower position. The circumferential speed of the debarking shaft is selected to be the greater the higher the debarking shaft is positioned. A free passage is arranged for the bark passing over the debarking shaft.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a debarking mechanism (1) for the decortication or pretreatment of logs (2) for separately performed final debarking and for the discharge of at least some of the bark removed from a wood stream passing through the debarking mechanism, the said debarking mechanism comprising a number of rotatable debarking shafts (3, 3′) extending parallel to an advancing direction (A) of the logs (2) to be fed therethrough, which are provided with a number of teeth (4) extending beyond the circumferential surface of the shaft (3, 3′). The debarking shafts (3, 3′) are arranged relative to each other in such a way that the logs (2) being processed perform a rotary motion (C) in the debarking mechanism, in which motion the logs (2) are forced in their turn, by the effect of the rotary motion (5) of the debarking shafts (3, 3′), into the upper position, from which they roll down into the lower position on top of the other logs (2) in the debarking machine (1). At least the uppermost debarking shaft (3′), is moved sideways towards the inner part (6) of the debarking mechanism (1) in such a way that the said debarking shaft directs an impact effect on logs (2) colliding with it and moved by the debarking shafts (3) located in a lower position, due to the effect of which the direction of movement of the logs (2) having collided with the said debarking shaft will change in such a way that when dividing the movement into a horizontal and a vertical component, the horizontal component of the movement will point towards the inner part (6) of the debarking mechanism (1). The circumferential speed of the debarking shaft is selected to be the greater the higher the debarking shaft (3, 3′) is positioned. A free passage (7) is arranged for the bark passing over the debarking shaft (3′).

    Abstract: A butt reducer machine is provided to remove excess wood from the swelled butt ends of logs. Cutting heads supported on pivoting arms, carried in turn within a rotating frame, are caused to oscillate circumferentially about the portion of the log to be removed. This butt-removal process may be carried out while a log is in motion longitudinally, either before or after the log enters a de-barking machine. The process may also be effected on a stationary log.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for machining the surface of logs, in which the log is longitudinally advanced through an opening provided in a rotor disc and the surface of the log is machined by rotatable cutting heads mounted on respective supporting arms pivotably connected to the rotatable disc and rotating therewith around the logs. The cutting heads are rotated around respective axes of rotation, while concurrently the cutting heads rotate with the rotor disc around the log such that the net rotational speed of the cutting heads at the surface of the log is the sum of the speed of rotation produced by the rotatable disc and the speed of rotation of the cutting heads around their respective axes. In the course of machining the logs, the speed of rotation of the rotor disc is varied as a function of conditions at the surface of the log and the rotational speed of the cutting heads around their axes is varied in relation to the rotational speed of the rotor disc to maintain a substantially constant net rotational speed of the cutting heads at the surface of the log.

    Abstract: A waste debarker 10 comprises a housing 12 in which is mounted a rotatable first cutting drum 14 and a rotatable second cutting drum 16 arranged in a longitudinally spaced relationship with respect to the first drum 14. The first drum 14 has a plurality of circumferentially extending flanges 24 spaced along the length thereof for supporting cutting teeth 26 thereon. The second drum 16 has a plurality of discrete lugs 34 arranged on its surface for supporting cutting teeth 26 thereon. The lugs 34 are offset with respect to the flanges 24 on the first drum 14 and extend in between the flanges 24 as the drums 14,16 are rotated. The second drum 16 is located at a higher elevation than the first drum 14. A method of debarking waste material is also provided.
