    Abstract: The controller of an inkjet recording apparatus supplies a recording medium onto the conveyor belt with a pair of registration rollers based on a detection result of the trailing edge of the recording medium by a first detection sensor and a detection result of an opening by a second detection sensor. The controller determines whether the recording medium is being placed on the conveyor belt coinciding with the opening that is moved due to the traveling of the conveyor belt, and based on the determination result, the controller controls the recording head to execute flushing and the pair of registration rollers to supply a subsequent recording medium onto the conveyor belt.

    Abstract: An example embodiment may involve obtaining an input pixel map of a digital image containing an array of a×b pixel macro-cells; classifying each of the a×b pixel macro-cells as P class cells for substantially lossless compression or Q class cells for lossy compression; creating a first intermediate pixel map representing: the P class cells as is, and the Q class cells with all zero values; creating a second intermediate pixel map representing: the P class cells with all zero values, and the Q class cells as is; encoding the first intermediate pixel map into a first output stream by using substantially lossless compression; and encoding the second intermediate pixel map into a second output stream by: downsampling the P class cells and the Q class cells therein, and serializing representations the downsampled cells.

    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a fixing device, a conveyance rollers pair, a curved path and a first guide roller. The fixing device fixes a toner image on a sheet. The conveyance rollers pair conveys the sheet on which the toner image is fixed by the fixing device. The curved path is provided between the fixing device and the conveyance rollers pair, and the sheet is conveyed along the curved path with a toner image fixed surface facing an inner peripheral side of the curved path. The first guide roller is shiftable between a guide position protruding in the curved path from the inner peripheral side and the inner peripheral side. When the sheet is conveyed along the curved path, the first guide roller is pushed by the sheet while rotating following the sheet and then is shifted from the guide position to the inner peripheral side.

An image reading portion reads images on document sheets conveyed along a conveyance path and outputs data about read images. An image reading control method includes detecting a target image that satisfies a predetermined sorting condition associated with any one of the plurality of discharge procedures from the read images.     Abstract: A printing system manages printing devices. A managing server receives device update status information and pending job information from each of the printing devices. A status change for a component within a first printing device is detected, thereby updating the device information for the first printing device. The managing server parses a print job queue for the first printing device to update the pending job information to determine the print job will cause a first potential error related to the changed status of the first printing device. When a new print job is received, the managing server determines that the new print job will not occur according to the first potential error, identifies a second printing device, determines the new print job will not result in a second potential error at the second printing device, and sends the new print job to the second printing device.

    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion, a fixing device, an input portion, and a control portion. The fixing device includes a rotary member to be heated, a pressure-applying rotary member, a heat-applying portion, a pressure-applying mechanism, and a reference position detection mechanism. The control portion controls fixing processing, with the pressure-applying rotary member disposed at any of a plurality of pressure-applying positions and a pressure reduction position based on a type of the recording medium inputted through the input portion. The control portion performs control so that when a prescribed amount of time has elapsed or when a rotation amount of a shaft has reached a prescribed amount from timing at which a reference position detection sensor is brought to an on-state, the pressure-applying drive motor is stopped so as to dispose the pressure-applying rotary member at any of the plurality of pressure-applying positions.
