Abstract:
This invention provides dye phosphoramidites, particularly phosphoramidites of substituted cyclic bridged cyanine and related dyes, of the general formula: In this formula, each dotted line represents carbon atoms necessary to form a fused substituted or unsubstituted aromatic ring; m is an integer from 1 to 18; Y and Z are independently selected from the group consisting of S, O, N, CH2 and C(CH3)2; R1 is an alkyl; (PAM) is a phosphoramidite group; X{circle around (−)} is a negative ion; and Q is L-W, wherein L is a conjugated cyclic moiety and W is OR2, wherein R2 is a second alkyl. Methods of making and using the dye phosphoramidites are also provided.
Abstract:
An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for identifying content within a scanned document. The apparatus includes a modification module, an identification module, and a segmentation module. The modification module creates a modified content data set through application of a sigmoid function to a scanned content data set. The identification module identifies a content segment within the modified content data set. The segmentation module identifies a content segment type of the content segment. Exemplary content segment types include text, line art, and images.
Abstract:
The utility model discloses a negative ion air purifier, comprising an electrostatic field-generating module and a voltage boost circuit. The voltage output end of the voltage boost circuit connects with the voltage input end of the electrostatic field-generating module. Said electrostatic field-generating module includes anodes and cathodes that are arrange alternately and equidistantly. A frequency conversion and voltage regulation module is further added, whose voltage signal sampling end connects with the voltage output end of said voltage boost circuit and whose control end connects with the voltage signal input end of said voltage boost circuit, thus making the device adapted to the fluctuation of the mains electricity between 180V to 240V and perform its functions steadily, and overcoming the disadvantages of existing products, such as the proneness to burnout and stop, unstable release of the ion flow, big noise and the difficulty in keeping effective.
Abstract:
A method (and system) for changing spatial resolution of an image includes systematically creating an image scaling look-up table including at least one pixel replacement pattern and applying a scaling algorithm to modify the image using the image scaling look-up table, thereby allowing a user to scale binary images with easy control of dot gain, output bit depth and other printer parameters.
Abstract:
A method and system for calibrating a color input or output device by simultaneously solving non-linear and linear transformations includes minimizing any error between two sets of corresponding data set of the color device.

Abstract:
A method, computer program product and system for detecting and compensating for color misregistration. A black/white edge or a solid color edge on a target may be scanned. A black/white edge may refer to a black image, e.g., black text, on a white surrounding background having a rapid spatial transition from black to white. A solid color edge may refer to a solid color image, e.g., solid color text, on a white surrounding background having a rapid spatial transition from color to white. A curve of gray values versus spatial pixel positions for each color channel, e.g., red, green and blue color channels, may be generated. A misregistration error may then be calculated by calculating the offset between the color channel curves. The misregistration error may then be used to calibrate the scanner to compensate for the detected color misregistration.
Abstract:
An adaptive filtering method and apparatus for descreening a scanned halftoned image representation is disclosed. The apparatus includes an image input subsystem; a processing subsystem for processing halftoned image data provided by the image input subsystem; and software/firmware means operative on the processing subsystem for a) low-pass filtering a halftoned input pixel value provided by the image input subsystem to produce a low-pass filtered pixel value; b) notch-filtering the halftoned input pixel value to produce a notch-filtered pixel value; c) determining a local contrast value for the halftoned input pixel value; and d) producing a descreened output pixel value based on the low-pass filtered pixel value, the notch-filtered pixel value, or a combination of the low-pass filtered pixel value and the notch-filtered pixel value depending on the local contrast value.
Abstract:
An optical recording head is provided which includes a slider body having a leading edge. A void is formed in the slider body to receive a sphere of optically transparent material. The sphere is inserted into the void such that a portion of the sphere protrudes from the slider body. The protruding portion is lapped to be coplanar with a surface of the slider body to form a near-field lens. A mesa may be formed onto the lapped portion and may include a coil. The slider body, mesa, near-field lens, and coil may be formed in one batch process.
