    Abstract: A valve assembly comprising a rotary closure element which defines an axis of rotation and is selectively movable between a fully open position and a fully closed position. Mounted to and movable with the rotary closure element is an impedance assembly. The impedance assembly defines an inflow end and an outflow end, and comprises a plurality of fluid passageways which extend from the inflow end to the outflow end. Also partially defined by the impedance assembly is a flow opening which extends from the inflow end to the outflow end. The fluid passageways and the flow opening are oriented relative to each other such that a portion of a flow through the valve assembly is directed into the fluid passageways and a portion of the flow is directed through the flow opening when the closure element is in the fully open position.

    Abstract: In the toner cartridge recycling and remanufacturing industry, used xerographic toner cartridges are reconditioned and refilled with toner. There are various types and models of toner cartridges, each having unique physical properties. The present invention is directed to the reassembling of toner cartridges that may not have sufficient securing surfaces to allow the cartridge to be physically held together using an external securing device. The present invention will also enable the toner cartridges to be more efficiently remanufactured by allowing a quick connect or disconnect during the assembly or disassembly process.

    Abstract: A disk valve construction having a unitary valve body. The valve is opened and closed by rotation of a drive shaft which is maintained in geared connection with a rotator spool positioned in an internal cavity of the valve body. The drive shaft extends in a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the valve body. The drive shaft may be supported in a housing assembly to allow pressurization thereof for valve operation with steam and hazardous materials.

    Abstract: A more compact high energy loss device is provided having a series of uniquely formed multiturn labyrinth assemblies which reduce the pressure of a fluid flowing therethrough. The inlet of the labyrinth assemblies is formed according to a substantially circular configuration to have a predetermined inlet area while the outlet is formed according to a substantially scalloped configuration to provide an outlet area greater than the inlet area. The scalloped configuration of the outlet yields an outlet area which is also greater than if the outlet were of circular configuration. The scalloped outlet configuration also makes the labyrinth assembly less susceptible to circumferential thermal stresses resulting from high temperature fluids passing through the device producing high temperature inlet conditions and low temperature outlet conditions.
