Abstract: Novel techniques are described for coexistence of multiple radio technologies in a shared frequency band. Techniques described herein enable multiple radiofrequency networks using different radio technologies to coexist on a same carrier frequency by exploiting various frequency- and/or time-domain sharing of scheduled resources. For example, data signals are received for transmission over different radio networks according to different radio technologies (having different respective sub-carrier definitions and timeslot definitions). A coexistence resource schedule is computed from the communication resource grids define an allocation of sub-carrier and/or timeslot resources among the radio technologies. Radio technologies can then be generated from the data signals in accordance with the coexistence resource schedule and the communication resource grids. The radio signals can then be transmitted over the radio networks, with the multiple radio technologies coexisting in orthogonal components of a communication channel.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for configuring or customizing settings or parameters of different media devices for compatible operations in an automated manner. An exemplary method of configuring a device for presenting media content in conjunction with a second device involves a client device detecting the device on a wireless network, identifying performance characteristics associated with the second device coupled to the device, and automatically configuring the device for operation with the second device via the wireless network and in a manner that is influenced by the performance characteristics associated with the second device. In this regard, one or more configurable parameters or settings maintained at the device and that influence its operation may be modified via the wireless network to correspond to performance characteristics of the second device, thereby facilitating compatible interoperation with the second device.

Abstract: Disclosed embodiments are directed an application program configured to run on a user's mobile device can allow voice-activated call pick-up to the user, without the user having to use his or her hands for picking up the call. For example, the application program can initially be trained to a user's voice command. When an incoming call is received at the mobile device, the user can pick up the call by issuing a voice command. In some embodiments, the application program can determine whether to allow voice-activated pick-up of calls based on data collected from multiple sensors associated with the vehicle, the mobile device, or a remote source.

Abstract: A technique is described for improved issue reporting by a receiving device such as a set-top boxes for satellite and cable television services. In an example embodiment, the receiving device generates an issue report based on internal operational logs, captured screens and/or video of a visual output, and a recording of the user's voice that includes a description of the issue they are experiencing. This issue report can be generated as an object file that can then be transmitted, via a communications network, to an issue reporting platform for processing, for example, by a technical support representative or an automated troubleshooting system.

Abstract: Devices, systems, and processes for testing capacitors are disclosed. A system includes a digital signal processor configured to execute non-transient computer executable instructions for testing a device over at least three operating modes. The operating modes may include a start-up mode, during which the digital signal processor is configured to control initial charging of the device to a desired initial condition, a charge mode, during which the digital signal processor is configured to control replenishment of electrical energy in the device, and a test mode, during which the digital signal processor is configured to control testing of the device in accordance with at least one testing protocol. The device may include an energy capture circuit configured to capture recovered energy arising during a first test cycle and to provide the recovered energy to the device for use during a second test cycle.

Abstract: Systems and methods for noise cancelation in a listening area include functionality that activates a microphone of the remote control device of a home entertainment system or a microphone of another mobile device to collect a baseline white noise profile of a user's media content listening area, such as the user's family room, living room or other TV viewing space. This baseline white noise profile may be used by the user's set-top box (STB) or other receiving device to generate the corresponding noise canceling audio signal to create a noise-canceling effect and a more immersive and enjoyable listening experience for the user. A plurality of audio data samples from which to select, each representing a different baseline profile of ambient white noise associated with the media content listening area, may be generated and used for different devices that generate white noise.
