Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for a user equipment device (UE) performing a quasi-colocation (QCL) update in a wireless communication system. The UE may receive an indication to change a spatial relationship for transmission/reception. The UE may receive aperiodic reference signals for use in beam tracking according to the new spatial relationship. The UE may also receive provide aperiodic reference signals for time, frequency, and/or phase tracking. Thus, the UE may change to the new spatial relationship and use the aperiodic reference signals to quickly complete initial tracking operations.

Abstract: Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to establish a cellular connection with a base station. The UE may receive multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) uplink configuration information from the base station. The MIMO configuration information may indicate a plurality of sounding reference signal (SRS) resources. The UE may receive downlink control information (DCI) from the base station, which may specify a plurality of MIMO parameters. The UE may perform uplink MIMO communication with the base station according to the MIMO configuration and the plurality of MIMO parameters.

Abstract: Transmission of uplink demodulation reference signals (DMRSs) may be dynamically adapted for mobile devices. Downlink control information (DCI) that schedules uplink transmission(s) of the mobile device may include an information element (IE) corresponding to a DMRS to be transmitted by the UE during the uplink transmission(s). The IE enables the mobile device to determine when to transmit DMRSs during the scheduled uplink transmission(s). The mobile device may identify a corresponding DMRS pattern indicated by the IE, with the DMRS pattern defining how many DMRSs to transmit during the uplink transmission(s), how many DMRSs to transmit in a given time interval (TTI) bundle in the uplink transmission(s), how many DMRSs to transmit in a given repetition of the TTI bundle, and/or where the relative position(s) of the DMRSs are within the given repetition and the given TTI bundle. The DMRS patterns may be configured for the mobile device via higher layer signaling or may be hard-coded.

Abstract: This application relates to wireless communications, including methods and apparatus to manage uplink (UL) transmit switching with multiple timing advance groups (TAGs) for wireless devices. A wireless device is configured to select N≥2 radio frequency carriers for UL transmission from M>N available radio frequency carriers and subsequently send UL transmissions to a cellular wireless network based on the configuration. The M available radio frequency carriers are divided into distinct TAGs, each TAG having a distinct timing advance value, and the N radio frequency carriers belong to a single TAG. The wireless device is further configured to switch to a second set of N UL radio frequency carriers, after an uplink switching gap time period, based on a TAG medium access control (MAC) control element (CE), received the cellular wireless network, which specifies a second TAG from which to select the second set of N UL radio frequency carriers.

The wireless device may establish a wireless link with a cellular base station. Abstract: A base station that determines a slot for uplink reception for a non-terrestrial network link between a base station and a user equipment is described. In exemplary embodiments, the base station determines a timing advance based on at least a random access preamble reception and determines an uplink offset based on the timing advance. The base station may further determine a candidate slot for an uplink reception based on at least the offset. In addition, the base station may determine if the candidate slot is available for the uplink reception. The base station may use the candidate slot for the uplink reception when the candidate uplink slot is available and may use the next available slot for the uplink reception when the candidate uplink slot is not available.

A first length or at least one of different second lengths can be selected to configure the UL transmission based on one or more conditions, which can include a coexisting radio access technology (RAT), a UE capability, an occupied channel bandwidth (OCB), the type of UL transmission or the like. The UL transmission can be based on at least one of: the first or the second sequence length such as for an initial access procedure based on the coexisting RAT and the OCB, for example.

Abstract: Beam determination refers to a set of procedures for an access node (AN) and a user equipment (UE) to select from among downlink communication beams and/or uplink communication beams for downlink and/or uplink communications, respectively. Often times, the downlink communication beams can include one or more downlink control channels, for example, a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) and/or a Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH), to provide downlink reference signals, such as channel-state information reference signals (CSI-RSs), to the UE. The AN can execute various exemplary downlink beam scheduling procedures to control the transmission of the downlink reference signals, such as the CSI-RSs to provide an example, over the downlink communication beams. In some embodiments, the UE can utilize the CSI-RSs to perform beamforming failure detection (BFD) and beamforming failure recovery (BFR) in the wireless networks.
