Abstract: User equipment (UE)-specific information may be transmitted within a control resource set configured to carry resources common to UEs within a system. The UE-specific information may be associated with a search space having an aggregation level different from aggregation levels used with the common control resources and may occupy different modulation symbols within the common control resource set (e.g., to support flexible scheduling for multiple UEs). A base station and UE may operate in a system using one or more control resource sets within a system bandwidth. The UE may detect common control resources by monitoring decoding candidates in the control resource set according to a first set of aggregation levels. The UE may detect UE-specific control resources by monitoring decoding candidates in the control resource set according to other aggregation levels. The UE and base station may communicate based on control information obtained from the monitoring.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may transmit a first downlink grant (e.g., a PDCCH transmission) for a first data transmission (e.g., a PDSCH transmission) over a first component carrier; the first data transmission over a second component carrier; and a second downlink grant (e.g., another PDCCH transmission) for a second data transmission (e.g., another PDSCH transmission) over the second component carrier. A user equipment (UE) receives the first data transmission over a first beam and may use the first beam for receiving the second data transmission. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may receive a configuration message indicating a set of TCI states for downlink data transmissions to the UE; identify one or more reference signals monitor for beam failure detection (BFD), identify one or more BFD beams, monitor the identified one or more reference signals; and selectively trigger a beam failure reporting procedure.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may configure a first sub-band and a second sub-band of a system bandwidth for communication with a user equipment (UE). The base station may determine a spatial quasi co-location (QCL) relationship between the first sub-band and the second sub-band and may transmit signaling to the UE that indicates the determined spatial QCL relationship. Upon receiving the signaling, the UE may derive, based on the indicated spatial QCL relationship, spatial parameters (e.g., beam width, pointing angle, etc.) for communication with the base station via the second sub-band. The spatial parameters may be derived based on spatial parameters used for reception of a downlink transmission from the base station via the first sub-band. Subsequently, the UE may communicate with the base station via the second sub-band using the derived spatial parameters.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communications. A wireless communication device may switch between a distributed and a clustered transmission scheme for control information transmissions. In some cases, the base station may indicate to a UE that a clustered control information transmission scheme will be used and may also indicate a monitoring pattern informing the UE how to identify its own control information in a control information set. For instance, a base station may indicate to the UE that a preferred beam of the UE is correlated with a symbol position of the UE's control information in the control information set. In some cases, the base station may indicate to a UE that a distributed control information transmission scheme will be used.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide beam determination in beamformed wireless communications. A base station may transmit multiple repetitions of control information for a subsequent scheduled transmission. A user equipment (UE) may receive one of the multiple repetitions, determine the control information, and adjust beamforming parameters for the scheduled transmission. The UE may have a scheduling threshold that corresponds to a time needed for the UE to adjust beamforming parameters for the scheduled transmission, and the UE may identify the beamforming parameters for the scheduled transmission from any one of the multiple repetitions of control information, which may be transmitted using different downlink transmission beams, before or after the scheduling threshold, or combinations thereof.

Abstract: A master node associated with a primary or master network may facilitate user equipment (UE) random access channel (RACH) procedures to secondary networks for dual connectivity. A master node may identify a connected UE is to perform a RACH procedure for connection with a secondary network (e.g., to the same network as the primary network via a secondary node). The master node may then identify a transmit beam for the secondary node to use for reference signal repetitions based on a beam report received from the UE. The master node may transmit an indication of the repetition, which may include a number of repetitions and/or a transmit beam to be used for the reference signals of the RACH procedure. The UE may perform a receive beam sweep procedure while the secondary node transmits the reference signal repetitions on the transmit beam to identify a preferred receive beam.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit to a base station an indication of a UE capability associated with a beam change at the UE. The UE may receive, from the base station during a scheduling slot, a control signal including a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) and a grant for a transport block over a first slot aggregation including a set of slots. In some cases, each slot of the first slot aggregation is offset from the scheduling slot according to a scheduling constraint based on the indicated UE capability. The UE may transmit or receive the transport block over the first slot aggregation using a UE beam based on the TCI.
