    摘要: A cleaning apparatus and color printing machine having an ultrasonic cleaner and a cleaning blade is disclosed for removing residual toner, toner additive films, spots and comets off the imaging surface. The toner additives used during development leave more than one layer of toner additive films on the surface. An ultrasonic cleaner that has a tip velocity ranging from about 1500 mm/sec to about 3000 mm/sec is used in combination with a blade that has sufficient hardness to remove the thick toner additive films without damaging the surface. The build up of toner additive films cause copy defects. The vibrational motion of the ultrasonic cleaner reduces friction between the blade and the surface and enables the dislodgment of toner additive films, spots, comets and residual toner off the surface.

    摘要: An apparatus for enhancing toner release from an image bearing member moving in a process direction in an electrostatographic printing machine, including a resonator arranged in line contact with the back side of the image bearing member for applying vibratory energy to the image bearing member. The resonator includes a vibratory energy producing element such as a piezoelectric transducer for generating the vibratory energy and a waveguide member coupled to the vibratory energy producing element for directing the vibratory energy to the image bearing surface, wherein the waveguide member is divided into segments along a longitudinal axis thereof forming a plurality of waveguide segments with each waveguide segment being separated by a segmentation slot. The waveguide member of the present invention includes extended inactive end segments situated along opposite ends of the waveguide member and effectively decoupled from an active portion of the resonator for providing a stable mounting point for the resonator, which can be firmly attached to an external point in the electrostatographic printing machine without affecting the vibrational response of the active portion of the resonator such that substantially uniform vibratory energy can be generated across the length of the resonator. The resonator is preferably incorporated into a toner transfer system for enhancing transfer of toner from an image bearing member moving in a process direction, with the resonator positioned generally transverse to the process direction of movement of the image bearing member.

    摘要: A system and method for automatically rendering labeling service prints with print engine parameters. An auto-labeling application can be configured in association with a print engine controller for labeling the service prints with the print engine parameters via a built-in marker integrated with a fault multi-function device. A portable inline marker can also be separately attached to a baffle assembly of the fault device and connected to the print engine controller via a connector in order to receive the print engine parameters from the print engine controller. A setup routine configured with the auto-labeling application can be employed to customize the service print labels in a modular format and the parameters can be appended to each other based on the information required to troubleshoot the fault multi-function device. Such an approach effectively provides labeling of the service prints with enhanced service proficiency and customer satisfaction and reduces service time with respect to the fault multi-function device.

    摘要: According to aspects of the embodiments, an apparatus and method is proposed to detect nip width by use of at least one piezoelectric (PZT) crystal embedded into a roll at both the inboard and outboard ends. A piezoelectric (PZT) crystal generates a charge when subjected to a load and when the load is released. The PZT generate signal is channeled to the ends of the roller such as with a brush contact to be processed and used within machine control. The duration measure from application and released of the load is indicative of the dwell time and the amplitude PZT generate signal is a function of the pressure. The time and amplitude of the PZT signal can be calibrated to correlate directly to nip width or pressure and tracked in machine control.

After image transfer, the residual toner particles on the photoreceptor surface are then charged to a uniform polarity using either a preclean corotron or a biased conductive blade. A UCA is used to dislodge the residual toner particles away from the photoreceptor surface. The polarity of the particles is opposite to that of the collection roll positioned to attract the toner particles levitated by the UCA onto the collection roll.

In another embodiment, the resonator assembly includes a vacuum apparatus including a vacuum plenum defining an opening adjacent the image bearing member, the vacuum apparatus providing sufficient force at the vacuum plenum opening to draw the image bearing member toward the waveguide assembly and a coupling cover including a pair of resilient cap members, wherein each cap member is mounted on the vacuum plenum along the opening thereof so as to be interposed between the vacuum plenum and the image bearing member.
