Abstract:
A flexible grip for an implement handle and method of making same in which the grip is molded with a core or mandrel having a spiral groove which forms a thread like surface on the interior of the grip when molded. Upon removal from the mold, the core may be easily removed by relative rotation of the core and grip one with respect to the other.
Abstract:
An apparatus comprises a distributed array of antenna elements for receiving a radio frequency signal on a satellite communications link, wherein the radio frequency signal includes a known preamble; a plurality of mixers for translating the radio frequency signal to a plurality of baseband signals having in-phase and quadrature components; a processor for applying weights to the baseband signals, wherein the weights are found adaptively in response to the preamble in combination with decision-directed feedback when the preamble is not present; and a receiver for processing the weighted baseband signals. A pre-processor can be used to create sub-arrays of the antenna elements using maximal-ratio weighting. A method performed by the apparatus is also provided.
Abstract:
A changeable grip 20 for a shock imparting implement grip has a body 22, ferrule element 24, and a sleeve 26. The body 22 and sleeve 26 portions of the grip are threadably connected to the ferrule element 24 which is attached to the shaft 14 of a shock imparting implement.
Abstract:
An apparatus for the measurement of at least one analyte in the blood of a patient, which includes a light source generating broadband light and a light-transmission arrangement having a plurality of transmitting fibers is positioned for simultaneously transmitting multiple wavelengths of the broadband light from the light source to the blood of the patient. The measurement apparatus further includes an optical fiber arrangement having a plurality of light detector fibers for leading multi-wavelength light, in spectrally unseparated form, transmitted through, or reflected from, the blood and a light detection arrangement for receiving the multi-wavelength light in its spectrally unseparated form from the optical fiber arrangement, for spectrally decomposing the received light, and for determining amplitudes of selected wavelengths of the decomposed light. The measurement apparatus utilizes a non-pulsatile element of the patient's blood for determining the measurement of at least one analyte in the blood as a function of the amplitudes of the selected wavelengths.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention provide methods and apparatus to defer the optimization an acceleration data structure (e.g., a kd-tree) in response to movements of objects within a three-dimensional scene. According to one embodiment of the invention, an image processing system may determine portions of an acceleration data structure affected by the movement of an object within a three-dimensional scene. The image processing system may store the affected portion of the ADS in an optimization queue. If the image processing system does not have sufficient processing bandwidth available to optimize the ADS, the image processing system may defer the ADS optimization until sufficient processing bandwidth becomes available. Once sufficient processing bandwidth becomes available, the image processing system may optimize the ADS according to the information stored in the optimization queue.
Abstract:
An improved color EP (laser) printer is provided for use in high humidity conditions. A humidity sensing circuit determines if the print quality might be degraded due to environmental conditions, using a resistively sensing circuit, or a humidity sensor. If the print quality would likely be degraded, the invention is able to enhance toner transfer by printing supplemental process black toner dots underlaying standard black toner dots at predetermined pixel locations in the bitmap of a print job. This assumes that the black printing station is the “last” station along the travel of the intermediate transfer member. Other colors, could be used for the supplemental toner dots.
