    摘要: An antenna system of a satellite may consist of an antenna receiver that is coupled to a plurality of flexible couplings. The couplings may each be affixed to one or more antenna elements. The couplings may be deployed in space in an uncontrolled manner. Additionally, the spacing between the couplings, and in turn the antenna elements, may be spaced in an uncontrolled manner. The antenna elements may have no pointing requirements. The antenna system may receive training signals and associate an antenna element to a time of arrival based on the training signal. Upon receiving a data signal, the antenna system may apply coefficients determined from the association of the antenna element to the time of arrival to the data signal to discover wanted signal coherence among the antenna elements.

    摘要: It is disclosed a waveguide array antenna for satellite communications. The antenna is configured to transmit and/or receive a first polarization signal and a second polarization signal, the second polarization being orthogonal to the first polarization, and comprises an array of unit cells, each comprising a radiating element. The antenna comprises: a grid configured to divide each radiating element into sub-elements having an inter-element distance lower than or equal to the wavelength at a highest frequency of operation of the antenna; and an electromagnetic band gap layer configured to support the grid above the radiating elements. The grid comprises a number of grid unit portions, and the electromagnetic band gap layer consists of a number of pins protruding from the walls of each grid unit portion.

    摘要: An artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) antenna apparatus includes a ground plane and a flexible antenna element layer above the ground plane. The ground plane includes a conductive base surface, a plurality of memory metal wires, and a frequency selective surface (FSS) layer above the base surface, where the FSS layer includes a plurality of conductive patches separated from one another. Each of the memory metal wires electrically connects one of the conductive patches to the base surface. Each of the memory metal wires is rigid in a memory-shaped state, causing the FSS layer to be fixedly spaced from the base surface during operation of the AMC antenna apparatus. The memory metal wires are each flexible in a non-memory-shaped state, enabling the FSS layer to be collapsed towards the base surface when the antenna apparatus is stowed.

    摘要: A frequency reconfigurable (FR) slot-based UHF antenna for use in Cube-Sat is described. The antenna includes a dielectric circuit board, a metallic layer, a meandered slot line formed in the metallic layer, a feed horn is connected to a first edge of the circuit board, a reverse biased varactor diode, a ground terminal connected to the metallic layer and a biasing circuit configured to bias the reverse biased varactor diode. The biasing circuit causes the antenna to resonate in a frequency range of 300 MHz to 450 MHz. The meandered slot line includes a heptagonal path connected to and enclosing a rectangular path. An open end of the feed horn is directed towards the apex of the heptagonal path. The reverse biased varactor diode is connected to the metallic layer across the rectangular path and parallel to a central axis.
