摘要： A developing device to develop a latent image on a rotatable image bearer includes an upstream developing roller disposed opposite the image bearer at a first developing position, and a downstream developing roller disposed adjacent to and downstream from the upstream developing roller in a direction of rotation of the image bearer, disposed opposite the image bearer at a second developing position. Each of the upstream developing roller and the downstream developing roller has a most approachable surface that approaches closest to the image bearer and a most withdrawn surface that withdraws farthest from the image bearer. In a state in which a reference surface point of the image bearer is disposed opposite the most approachable surface of the upstream developing roller at the first developing position, the reference surface point opposes the most withdrawn surface of the downstream developing roller at the second developing position.

The transfer apparatus in an image forming apparatus employing an electrophotographic method includes the transfer member electrically charging the transfer body; a charging unit for electrically charging a surface of the transfer member; and voltage sensors for measuring the voltage at each of an upstream area and a downstream area on the transfer member with respect to a transfer nip section of the transfer member.

摘要： An electrophotographic apparatus includes: a photoconductor; and two developing rollers facing the photoconductor. A developer fed out from between the two developing rollers is supplied to the photoconductor by the two developing rollers to form a toner image on the photoconductor. The developer includes a carrier having a volume-average particle size smaller than 70 μm and a volume resistivity not lower than 106 Ω·cm. A volume ratio of the carrier in a facing portion between the photoconductor and the developing rollers is not lower than 30% and not higher than 46%.

In order to detect image misalignment, image-forming units form a color registration detection pattern, and sensors detect the pattern and output detection signals. A control unit detects the position of the patterns based on only portions of the detection signals corresponding to leading edges of the patterns.

The apparatus includes a potential sensor provided downstream in the moving direction of the image carrier relative to the developing device for detecting a potential on the image carrier, and a controller for setting the developing bias to a value restricting disturbance of a potential portion as an object for potential detection by the potential sensor by the developer when the potential portion passes across the developing device.

摘要： An electrophotographic printing apparatus using electric potential dividing development processing without the occurrence of primary fringe and fringe caused by auxiliary exposure has reverse electric fields causing primary fringe and fringe caused by auxiliary exposure adjusted to be nearly equal to each other. The auxiliary exposure is applied to an area surrounding one image, and an electric potential of an intermediate electric potential zone is brought close to a bias electric potential of another image which is not subjected to auxiliary exposure. Further, a white portion to produce a reverse electric potential therein at the rear end of an electric potential portion to be developed with toner, relative to a rotating direction of a developing roller, is exposed with a light intensity forming an electric potential between an electric potential developing an image with toner and the intermediate electric potential, and portions at the front end and the sides are exposed with a light intensity forming the intermediate electric potential.
