Abstract: A LCD device having a large pixel holding capacitance includes opposedly facing first and second substrates, and liquid crystal between them. The first substrate includes a video signal line, a pixel electrode, a thin film transistor having a first electrode connected to the video signal line and a second electrode connected to the pixel electrode, a first silicon nitride film formed above the second electrode, an organic insulation film above the first silicon nitride film, a capacitance electrode above the organic insulation film, and a second silicon nitride film above the capacitance electrode and below the pixel electrode. A contact hole etched in both the first and second silicon nitride films connects the second electrode and the pixel electrode to each other. A holding capacitance is formed by the pixel electrode, the second silicon nitride film and the capacitance electrode.

Abstract: A thin film transistor substrate including a pixel region constructed with pixels, includes: gate signal lines provided in the pixel region and extending in a first direction; gate lead-out lines provided in the pixel region and extending in a second direction; a thin film transistor and a pixel electrode provided in each of the pixels; a common electrode provided across the pixels; and a common line electrically connected to the common electrode. The gate signal lines and the gate lead-out lines are connected to each other through a first contact hole at at least one of a plurality of intersections of the gate signal lines and the gate lead-out lines, and the common line covers the first contact hole in planar view of the thin film transistor substrate.

Abstract: A color display device comprises an array of a plurality of sub-pixels including a red sub-pixel, a blue sub-pixel, a first green sub-pixel and a second green sub-pixel. The first green sub-pixel and the second green sub-pixel are smaller than that of the red sub-pixel or the blue sub-pixel. The two adjacent first green sub-pixels are arranged in a first direction, the two adjacent second green sub-pixels are arranged in the first direction. The blue sub-pixel is directly adjacent to the red sub-pixel in a second direction; the blue sub-pixel is directly adjacent to the two first green sub-pixels and the two second green sub-pixels.

Abstract: An alignment film is given a 2-layer structure comprising a photoalignment film that is photoalignable and a low-resistivity alignment film whose resistivity is smaller than that of the photoalignment film. The photoalignment film is formed by a polyimide whose precursor is polyamide acid alkyl ester, the number molecular weight of the photoalignment film is large, and the stability of alignment of the photoalignment film by photoalignment is excellent. The low-resistivity alignment film is formed by a polyimide whose precursor is polyamide acid, the number molecular weight of the low-resistivity alignment film is small, and the resistivity of the low-resistivity alignment film is small. The 2-layer structure alignment film can be maintaining an excellent photoalignment characteristic, so DC afterimages can be controlled.

Abstract: A column for defining the interval between a TFT substrate and an opposed substrate is formed at a crossing point between a drain line and a scanning line. At the crossing point where the column is formed, the drain line is formed to have a wider width to prevent light leakage. Further, at the crossing point where the column is formed, the scanning line is formed to have a narrower width to prevent increase of capacitance between the drain line and the scanning line. The column is formed at a crossing point corresponding to a specific color, e.g., a blue pixel B, so that a difference in transmittance and in characteristic of thin film transistors due to formation of the column is initially compensated.

Abstract: A backlight module for a liquid crystal display includes: LEDs; LED drivers; a controller that outputs data and the latch signal to the LED drivers; data lines for transmitting the data; and latch signal lines for transmitting the latch signal. The latch signal lines are wired according to each of a plurality of first groups obtained by dividing LED drivers. The data lines are wired according to each of a plurality of second groups, which are constructed with a collection of at least one LED driver selected from each of the plurality of first groups without duplication, and each data line is commonly connected to at least one LED belonging to the corresponding second group.
