    Abstract: A golf club having a head and a shaft, an improved connection of the shaft to the head comprising a socket associated with the head, the socket having an inner wall tapering in an endwise direction generally toward the bottom of the head; the shaft having a lower end portion with circularly spaced cantilevered sections, and endwise extending slots formed between the sections; the cantilevered sections forcibly received endwise into the socket causing the sections to be deflected by the socket inner wall to reduce the width of the slots proximate lower ends of the sections closest to the bottom of the head.

    Abstract: A method (500) for fitting a golf club to a golfer is disclosed herein. The method includes having a golfer hit a test golf club. If the test golf club is preferred, a final golf club is formed that matches the test golf club. Preferably, the final golf club matches the following parameters of the test golf club: volume, mass, mass location, inertial values, center of gravity location, material composition and shape. In a preferred embodiment, a test golf club with an interchangeable shaft is utilized with the method.

    Abstract: A putter-type club head (20) having a central aperture (32) with a rearward center of gravity is disclosed herein. The putter-type club head (20) has a body (22) that is preferably composed of stainless steel. The body (22) has a face portion (24), a crown portion (26), a sole portion (28) and an aft-mass portion (30). The face portion (24), the crown portion (26), the sole portion (28) and the aft-mass portion (30) define the central aperture (32). The crown portion (26) extends rearward from the face portion (24) over the aft-mass portion (30). The central aperture (32) separates the crown portion (26) from the sole portion (28) and the face portion (24) from the aft-mass portion (30). The crown portion (26) has an alignment means (40) thereon for aiming a golf ball during putting.
